2023 NBA Draft Megathread

The glass has to be half of anythign to be half full or empty on it. I'm more like 3/4ths empty on Hendricks.

And just because I'm positive doesn't mean I Have to be positive on everything.
Again, you do you. Keep acting like the sky is falling and I will do me and keep saying things will be ok. We all have our roles.

Lyles was almost universally not liked here and it’s the opposite with Hendricks. I’m not sure I get that comparison at all.

Hey, its makes a lot of sense seeing as you are a glass half empty kinda person. You do you brother.
Tvf I think Cy is more of an optimist than a pessimist.

But his cup is rarely half anything. Its either overflowing or broken on the ground.

You joking? Who is he optimistic about besides THT, Joe and D? Lmao

I don't think a trade up was in the cards. I go back to the Jazz straight up saying on draft night that they would have taken any of the eight players picked ahead of them over Hendricks I have NEVER seen a team say that about a draft pick in any sport.

I think it was common knowledge around the league that there was a drop off after #8 and we happened to have the ninth pick, it's the most Jazz thing ever, so shouldn't be surprising. What I'd be more curious to know is where other teams had Hendricks, did everyone see him as a top guy in that next tier? Or were opinions much more varied? Obviously we liked George more than others, so great job there (I have to remind myself that we got him at #16 in my head it's always #10).

All that said, only Cason so far is really do anything to make us lament taking Hendricks at #9, so I'm okay with it for now. If George was taken between 10 and 16 and looked how he looks with us we'd be much more salty than we are now, all in all things worked out okay.

If Keyonte continues his trajectory, and Hendricks becomes even a rotation level NBA player, it's a successful draft. Maybe even a great one.

I think Taylor was considered in the same tier as Walker/Bilal... Maybe that's me hearing Tony say there are 10 players in that tier but you say Taylor's name mentioned as early as 5 or 6 at times. Whitmore sliding I think threw a kink in some of the consensus projections.

I'd take Key over Bilal, Walker, Hendricks, Cason... and some on here are being so hyper critical of Taylor its hilarious.

You probably know him better tbf.

Based on my experience he has a very strong bias but doesnt usually panic over bad performances as much as the average poster, has a positive outlook on the future of the team and before he forms those strong opinions he seems to have a very positive disposition towards most of the young players (based on following the draft thread).

I think the biggest problem with him is whoever the board favorites are he decides to **** on any chance he gets and whoever the board doesn’t like he hypes them up to no end. Not sure if it’s for attention or what but if he just stopped doing those two things he would improve immensely as a poster.

The board favorite is Lauri and I dont see myself hating on Lauri? Do you? I said he would average a career high this year.

You are acting like I post like the Upside dude.

It was definitely odd when they came out and said that. Like you said, I've never seen that said in any sport either.

I think it was actually considered a 9 man draft, but if you wanted to call it a 8 man draft Hendricks was absolutely included in the 8. The 9th guy would have been Cam. Bilal was a late riser. Hendricks was getting a lot of buzz at 5 and 6 IIRC.

I always saw Hendricks as a raw athlete sort of pick. He has tools and he can shoot, which is a plus, but he was going to need time to develop his NBA role. Moreover, because it didn't look like his coaching in College did him any favors. He's an NBA 3 and he has never played that position. His ideal looks a lot like Chicago and Cleveland thought Lauri was, but with more defense. That is a valuable player.

I wanted Walker because I thought he was ready to go from day 1. I was pretty wrong on that.

Also wanted no art of JHS, and if we are going to way early crap on players and the people pimping them. . .

This is correct.
