I wish Jan 6 was remembered like Sept 11. It was the day when the former president incited his scumbag cult following to attack our capitol building in an attempt to stop the certification of electoral college votes in the hopes of keeping Trump in power. I’ve recently been reading some of the books written by the capitol police who put their lives on the line. They are haunting stories. Here we are 3 years past and much has changed while some remains the same. I remember exactly what Sept 11 was like. What was Jan 6 like?

How did you first hear about what was happening on Jan 6?
What were your thoughts? What did your family think about it?

I’ve also been reading on the role that Christian nationalism has had on Jan 6 and the continued embraces of fascism we see today. I’ll post some additional reading as soon as I get access to my computer. Feel free to post any podcasts, videos, books, articles that you find might be interesting, enlightening, or worthwhile here. I really hope that we never forget Jan 6 and what an awful day for our democracy, much like how Sept 11 was.

Mostly what I remember is the emotions I felt seeing everything transpire.
Disgust, embarrassment, sadness are probably the 3 main emotions I felt.

Sadly shock and/or surprise wasn't really felt that much by me. I had watched the previous 4/5 years play out. It was a little shocking and surprising but not that much. I was WAY more shocked and surprised that trump was the Republican nominee back in 2015 and then when he won the election in 2016. That was way more surprising and shocking to me than what happened on January 6th.

Horrible day for our country. Extremely embarrassing. Trump is a douchebag sociopath criminal narcissistic moron who never should have had a chance in hell at being elected in the first place.

And then there are those who instead chose to celebrate 1/6….I can’t imagine future generations of Americans celebrating, but I don’t know what it will be like beating back this ridiculous revisionist history. What a mess we are in with millions believing an alternate reality bearing no resemblance to the actual reality of what happened, and why. If future histories of the United States treat 1/6 as a great day in our history, then the bad guys won.

I knew right from the get go that if Republicans didn’t end Trump that it would come back to bite EVERYONE. Trump would never stop haunting republicans and demanding their party as a vehicle for power and influence. He’d never stop using his cult to hurt fellow Republicans, Democrats, and regular Americans. They had a chance to end all of this madness… twice with two impeachments! And decided to sign up for more.

That day was such a dark and frustrating day. Completely avoidable too. Had Trump just conceded in November, like a regular candidate would’ve done, Jan 6, 2021 wouldn't have been a day that any of us would’ve remembered.
 
We can put this conspiracy theory to rest now. For whatever reason this guy gets a very light sentence. He gets a misdemeanor charge and will have a short jail sentence. Although people who weren’t even there got years and years in jail this man that was caught on camera inciting protesters to enter the capitol building on Jan 6th received puff pieces in the New York Times, 60minutes, cnn, etc. Case closed- I say throw the book at this pos.

We know why he got the sentence.

1) He pled guilty for a deal
2) He did not enter the Capitol, and he left when he saw the violence
3) He wasn't part of the plotting

It's sadly, very predictable that PJ Media left these facts out of their article.

The only reason any one of you guys here would defend this p.o.s. Is if you see through the b.s. and recognize him as some political agent provocateur.
look at some of the other sentences. Look at the videos this guy is on. Listen to what he says. He should go to jail for a looooong time.

I'm fine with him going to jail for a long time. I'm fine with anyone who had anything to do with January 6th going to jail for a long time. Especially trump.

I think it’s odd the media is so defensive of him. Do you think the sentence is too light? Have you heard and seen the things this guy has said on video on Jan 6th? Do you not think it’s odd he is not one of the people they would choose to make an example of with the justice system? Why not make an example of the guy like this dumbass?
