What's new

Game Thread: Clippers @ Jazz, 7 p.m.

We are getting intensity defense and hustle from the jazz every game. We didn't get that from the Deron boozer era. I love this team

It is from every player on the team. Even if they are having a bad game they are fighting. That is new. This team has found its identity. Heart and fire.

Sick win over the Clippers and there is not even a Jazz win story over on the side on the ESPN home page. Love the media ignoring the Jazz. Other than a Hollinger tweet there is nothing.

When does D12 take notice of the Jazz, and add them to his list of teams he wants to play with?

Just asking:D

Probably when DW8 gives him a call and says, "damn Dwight, I just never knew how good I had it. And now that Utah got some additional pieces by trading me, how about the two of us go to Swat/Slam Lake City and win us some chips?!"

Locke tonight noted that the jazz have been quite good in first quarters this season, a far cry from last years team that seemed to really suck in the 1st qtr.

And yes, locke is annoying for the most part.

What did Locke mean by this in his blog?

"Kanter battling Reggie Evans was quite a watch. Kanter had things happen to him tonight he could have never imagined."

Did Reggie Evans welcome him to the NBA in that Reggie Evans kind of way?

Utah takes #2 in the conference, blows out the NBA's newest darlings and ESPN has nothing to say. Probably because they stopped watching the game halfway through the 3rd.

Jefferson was really looking for his teammates tonight. Made several nice passes. Harris has quietly been looking a lot better too, although it's not as easy to see especially in the box score. Harris is much improved over the rim crashing ball dominator of his half season here last year. Utah has really become an opportunistic, flexible and balanced team. Gotta be looking forward to when Hayward gets his groove back.

I feel like I'm supposed to apologize since they didn't have Paul, but we crushed them. Watching this team play as a team is a joy. It's not the same win without Paul, but I'll take it and I liked the way it looked.

Sap was a monster in the 1st and you have to give credit to the gameplan. They freed him up on several basic picks by little guys. Obviously, they saw Griffin was susceptible to picks because he got left in the dust constantly. But Sap's jumpshot has become so good that NO team has any choice but to guard him all over the floor. That makes life easier for everybody.

Harris made a few shots, but I liked his defense tonight (Chauncy which isnt' that hard) and I loved his awareness. He had a stop and pop on the break in the 1st where he made sure Al was down low. A mid percentage shot that he made more safe by ensuring he had a rebounder.

Bell guarded Chauncey.

Bell had exactly the game that terrifies me. He shoots 3/7, has a few nice plays, but contributes 8pts, 2 boards, and an assist in 29 minutes. Once again, we'll pretend his defense made it justifiable. Get ready. Because Raja is going to average nearly 30 minutes before this year is over.

Hayward stunk, but he did finally have a stop and pop in the 3rd which got me excited. I get his deferring to Al and Sap. But he still leaves too many shots on the floor.

Our 2nd unit, which isn't even defined, is such a mismatch for most teams. I love watching us sub because I know we won't miss a beat.

Burks is so unusual to watch. He does things only star players can do, but you can't help but worry that he's not going to get it. He runs breaks badly, he plays aggressively to a fault, he takes dumb shots. On the flips side, he makes plays, gets to the line, and he's productive. I'm really not sure how you reign in a guy like Burks.

Not sure either. Wish he looked to pass a little more, but it seems like he is trying to make his mark by scoring/getting to the line. Maybe being a good defender will help reign him in and give him more of an identity out there. Hopefully Raja is teaching him every defensive trick he knows.
