What's new

Game thread: Game #15 : Timberwolves at Utah, Saturday 01/21/2012 7:00 PM MST

Hayward isn't going to fill it up scoring most nights. We have plenty of players who can score the ball. I think he played a quiet but solid game tonight.

We are currently one of the worst 3pt shooting teams and barely have any perimeter scoring from our 2nd unit. He has to start scoring more, or at least hit his 3pt shot with more consistency.

Don't think so. He is a great asset on the floor. 6 assists, 5 boards, blocked shot, batted balls, solid D. Team Player NOT a scorer. Scoring is a bonus with Hayward.

4 TO's, 1/5 shooting.

He still does not look comfortable out there. Hasn't found his rhythm.

The Jazz are a tough, deep team. They have physical players and good athletes at every position. This is the type of team that you add a superstar to and watch go deep into the playoffs. They need a dominant wing player and need Favors to keep developing on offense.

The Jazz benefit from Hayward's motor and ball-moving skills. He also plays pretty good D out on the floor. Hayward is playing a complementary role right now.

Cheez, I've been trying to stand up for Harris...but man that was almost as bad as the Dallas game. I think he's missing fire. GLad that Ty kept Watson at the point....but that's wayy too many minutes for a 32 year old. Tinsley should play some too...he's like another Earl on the bench but I think Tinsley's got better passing.

And Favors...I thought he'd come back raging and he did well on the defensive end, but offensively I'm starting to worry about his footwork and whether it's a lack of experience or just natural. He's got that one sweet post move but his footwork just isn't executing it. He shouldn't take jumpshots if Kanter doesn't. Kanter's got a better stroke. Hayward also bombed it today.....really hope he finds his groove again.

Everybody else played very well. Especially Miles, Milsap, and Bell....good to see him making the shots he needs to make.
And ofcourse...with young guys, you just gotta wait and see especially Favors.

Also Rubio is like the next coming of Nash. Wow what a player.
He seems to know where all the players on the floor are at a time and where they'll be when he passes.

Last year Big Al played vs Miny he struggled quite a bit. I saw few of their games this season and it is very solid team and easy on the eye, especially when Rubio runs the show. They shoot lots of threes and we defend perimeter poorly so if their shot is falling it could be long night. Tough game awaits, I would not be surprised if it goes down to the wire and we lose.

Don't remember the last time that you have predicted a game in which the jazz will win.

Rubio is really fun to watch. Also, if the Wolves are the worst team in the division, we have the best division in the NBA.

We clearly have the best divison. OKC is a #1 seed, Denver a #2, Utah is the #5 (only because of division leaders being in the top 4 otherwise they'd be #3). Portland is 9-7 and if Minny had won tonight they'd be at .500.

As mentioned previously good to see Milsap dominate another allstar pf! So this had me wondering what has changed with Paul, cause he sure didn't grow a couple of inches during the lockout!

Here is my take:

Milsap has been more aggressive on the defensive end, but not where you would think! It's his steals!! I noticed he kept knocking the ball away from Love every time he tried to back him down. I think Paul's steals has played havoc on opposing teams big men.

He has always had quick hands but he is playing the passing lanes more and being aggresive. I love his attitude.

Also I like how Kanter plays on D off a pick. Never lets that ball handler drive to the hoop. Nice to see that from a rookie.

Man, Rubio is fun to watch. That showtime no look pass on the break was worth the price of admission alone. But he's such a hunter from the PG position. One of the few guys who can legitimately pound the basketball for 10 seconds and you just get more nervous because he's going to set something up.

Thank god Ty pulled the plug and the Kanter/Favors frontcourt quick in the early 4th. CJ/Burks helped to offset the deficiency with their driving skills, but you just can't run an offense with those guys playing together. And when Burks struggled on a few offensive possessions, combined with a few Minny 3's, we gave back a 10 pt lead in like 3 minutes.

The Raja/Hayward backcourt is not going to work longterm. With a Deron type point, it wouldn't be a problem against better teams. But since Harris isn't much of a threat, we've got one guy who needs the ball to find him to shoot, and another guy who just doesn't want to shoot.
