2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

Best rim finisher in the entire draft. One of the best passers in the draft.
When Topic left the team and went to the Euroleague Djurisis stepped in and put up just as good or better stats. It's a bad league without rim protection or athletes.

Look at Topic’s stats at AGNT compared to other guys in previous years and this year. He compares very well. He’s a baller.

It’s funny we crush guys like Dilly and Topić for not being good defenders but Knecht isn’t the best defender. Holland can’t shoot. All of these guys have flaws.
isn't that true for this years class especially.

Some flaws can be changed while others not likely. Much rather gamble on Holland or Buzelis shooting improving than Dillingham growing a qtr a foot.

Topic I'd be very scared to draft in the 1st round, I stated that here before he had knee problems.

I get that Dilly and Topić have some downside. The hate has gone too far though. If we can trade into the late teens and land one of em I am in. At 10 I’m more interested in other guys at the moment. If we didn’t have Collin, JC, and Keyonte I would be more interested in Dilly at 10. I just have a hard time not seeing him as at least an electric bench scoring guard. Maybe he’s a 20 minute a night guy and it’s not the most valuable role… but I think he may be one of the best in the league at it.

I feel like if Jordan Clarkson has any bearing on your draft strategy it’s a mistake. And maybe the mistake is simply that Clarkson would prevent Dilly from getting time and development, but it’s a mistake nonetheless. I don’t even think Keyonte should have any bearing. Yeah they won’t be long term fits…but they can still develop alongside each other.

I don’t have a problem with drafting Dilly because of our roster. I used to view him as a sure thing to be good in a role like yourself, but the inability to get to the rim has me spooked. He can be like Monk….but I guess I’d say I have an easier time seeing it go wrong.

I do think the complete 180 on Topic people are doing is kinda wild though. Like did we really believe he had a 7’0 wingspan in the first place? Come on now, we knew that was bogus. And should it really change our opinion that much? Things completely unrelated to his wingspan, such as his FT shooting translating to 3 point shooting are now a huge concern when it wasn’t a few weeks ago.

I’m not saying these aren’t concerns….but they were also concerns before when the everyone was saying he was can’t miss. The injury concerns….I guess everyone can factor that in however they want. I don’t think there’s a correct way to that. But it’s kinda crazy how much people have change on things unrelated to his ACL or his wingspan.

IMO, we were probably overrating Topic 3 weeks ago but now I think he may be underrated.

Just for the record I’ve never liked Topic to begin with.

Same with Dillingham and to a lesser extent Knecht.

Never have, never will.

JC is an afterthought but just another thing you have to deal with before he can get on the floor. Agree on Topic but the wingspan thing I did contend with folks that thought it was real. I think it matters but understand your point. I think at some point the draft becomes more about what you can do or project to be able to do and less about the flaws. Anyone wringing their hands at spending a mid first on either may have lost the narrative imo.

I just think it’s odd that Topic is getting every part of his game/profile put under a microscope now when it was an afterthought a few weeks ago. I found myself lower on him than consensus before, and now I guess I’m relatively high on him?

To me he was always a guy where if he did have a wingspan, it didn’t matter much because it wasn’t affecting things on the court. And I also think it should have no bearing on things that are irrelevant to wingspan in the first place.

On Dillingham (and every prospect really)….I think it will just work out if he’s good enough. Like as much as I hated and was confused by the way we treated Taylor, I don’t think it’s too crippling that he didn’t get much of a chance. I think you do need to be concerned with the pathway to playing time to some extent…but I just think at #10 we shouldn’t get too ahead of ourselves.

Maybe a better example of this is Jarace and I guess we’ll see how his development goes. That guy looked amazing but had zero opportunity.

At #10 in this draft and our roster…I still don’t think there is much of a reason to preclude us from drafting any player. I do think your realistic approach of seeing players with realistic outcomes (i.e Dilly being a microwave scorer) should be talked about more than the edge case ceiling/floor outlook.

He doesn’t ever say “NBA sources tell us.” How can he be anything other than a hack. Shout out to real insider, Monty.
Don't even know think he's trying to be a fake insider. If you you read his feed he said says what he wants to happen then he starts putting out rumors that support what he wants. Think he just tries and tweet things into existence.
