Bridges to knicks

The Nets couldn't pair Bridges with someone else after trying so they got tired of trying to attract guys to follow Mikal and they cashed in.

If we can't pair someone with Lauri NOW then we are in the same spot as Brooklyn was... aka middling capital of the world.

it hasnt mde any sense the last two years... and it wont make any sense the next 2.

NY just set the market. It’s time to cash in and completely reset.
We’re in the “find out” stages where we realize how hard it is to land one really good player, to say nothing of two, and there’s not some magical mushroom pathway where we get on this conveyor belt with two young stars on good contracts and a war chest of assets to build around them. We'll have to bust our asses just to break even on being able to just get where we were (if we can).

This is also one of those things where it might look like a huge overpay, but there is actually not a single good young player involved and little reason to think those picks will become good picks.

Nets were going nowhere so it's a fine deal to make. But speaking from experience; 2031 is gonna be feeling really far away soon for Brooklyn. And even then, just hoping for a good team to become bad in that time.

Everyone says the Nets are about to blow everything up and tank for Flagg......but have they considered the chances that the Nets wait until deadline to tank so they have no chance at playoffs/very low chance at winning the lotto?
Damn that’s a good idea we should do that

Is there any reason to think that Lauri wouldn't be as valuable as Bridges?
He’s an expiring contract and he can’t be extended and traded in the same transaction (but I don’t know much about extension rules).

I have wondered if the clock on trading Lauri starts after we renegotiate and extend him (I believe he can’t be traded for 6 months from that time).

Actually wouldn't be shocked by a Collins/Johnson swap where Utah puts a first in
Yeah... I am worried we do a mid trade with Nets for DFS or Johnson... or both.

He does that help us?
Gets us from 28 wins to 34 maybe... we want to avoid the top 8 picks... have you noticed only ****** teams draft that high. Its a disturbing trend no one talks about.

Wow. Picks now can’t buy you ****.
The Jazz officially devalued picks after their record haul that has so far amounted to jack ****. Teams are seeing that picks are like german marks during their depression. It takes a wheelbarrow full of them to make anything meaningful.

I get it, and I'm just as excited for the 2025 draft as the next guy, but a rotation of Sexton, Carter, Keyonte, Dunn, Johnson, DFS, Lauri, Hendricks, Kessler is starting to look pretty balanced and deep. Plus whoever we take with our late picks, free agents and if a guy like Brice or Lofton level up.

I want greatness, but will settle for a roster that at least makes sense.

Johnson is really good
And it would serve no purpose to any larger goal. It’d be like Steve Martin and John Candy stranded in the Midwest, trying to get back to Chicago. Steve Martin is trying to route them on a couple train options back with their limited cash. John Candy comes back saying he bought neck pillows.

“But you need comfort for the long ride.”
