The Biden Administration and All Things Politics

I don’t like Trump.. but we, and the world itself, seemed to get along generally all right during his first presidency despite him being a horrible person.

So why would you say what you just did?

You conveniently forgot about everyone fighting over masks and toilet paper, thousands of riots and protests, and a "stolen" election including an attack on the Capitol just to name a few.

Ya you are in the middle and it's just a coincidence that you choose today to start posting in the thread lol.

Had Biden done great last night and trump been an unmitigated disaster then I guarantee we wouldn't be hearing from you.

The riots happened from the cult on the left, the capital happened from the cult on the right… and no I don’t blame any party for a global pandemic.

And yes, I normally avoid politics because each side thinks it’s what they think is the only possible option. I am somewhat excited because I think there is a chance now for a different candidate… but I will go back to just basketball talk as you want.

I didn't say any of those things were anyone's fault. You said we all got along under trump. We didn't though.

Do you blame Putin invading Ukraine or Hamas attacking Israel on Biden or something?

How were we all getting along when Trump was president and now suddenly we are not?

I don't want you to leave. I want you to be critical of both parties and both candidates if you are actually in the middle like you say but trump has actually had a lot of controversies and I never see you. Biden looks like **** during a debate and here you are. Kinda fishy.

Tensions build before they erupt into violence. Trump weakened the international community significantly. The cracks took time to spread.

Your view of the world must be so simple if you think that every conflict in the world, every rivalry, every disagreement, every conflict has it's origins in the the U.S. White House.

Good U.S. President means no wars
Bad U.S. President means all nations spontaneously start wars against each other

Good U.S. President means all the jobs
Bad U.S. President means all the unemployment

Good U.S. President means low inflation
Bad U.S. President means high inflation

Good U.S. President means no one wants to emigrate to the U.S. illegally
Bad U.S. President means everyone wants to be in the U.S. by any means necessary

that last one is a head scratcher

People who see the world this way are going to decide that Trump was better. If Trump had won in 2020 the current situation wouldn't be any better. These things were building under his watch and if his watch had continued these world conflicts would have erupted all the same.

Pretty much summed up the problem with US politics… it’s always the other side who is the problem.

Have a little fun folks… state your party affiliation and specifically call out something YOUR party failed at during their last presidency (Biden or Trump). No cheating with crap like they didn’t block the other party.

Trump was garbage as far as healthcare. I liked that he attacked prescription companies to put their actual cost on their bottles. He also tried to make generic drugs from Canada legal but besides that, he was absolutely worthless in that area. I would like to see what he even plans to do but the only thing that I understand he wants to do is completely get rid of Obamacare, which I'm not totally against but he needs to have a plan if he does.

My party is unaffiliated.
The Democratic party has failed at decreasing prices. **** is way expensive. I have no idea if that is something that can even be controlled by party though. Have failed with the southern border as well.

The Republican party failed at holding trump accountable for his actions.

As for having fun, I just finished working 7 out of the last 8 days (all 12 hours shifts) and now have 6 days off in a row. I'm leaving for a bike ride now. Going to go through liberty park, to the U of U campus, over to the state capitol, then to crown burger (pastrami sandwich mmm), and then out to legacy highway bike trail.
That should be fun

Weird that you would even comment on the topic.
According to you the election is already over and Biden already won remember?
I still believe that no GOP nominee can win a national election, however I've also been saying for a long time that I believed it would be Gavin Newsome who beat Trump in this election.

This post was from Aug 22, 2022.
This far out, my money is on Gavin Newsom. The DNC has been boosting MAGA candidates so they can face them in the general. I think they'll do that to Trump to get him to beat out DeSantis. I don't believe there is a democrat who could beat DeSantis, but Trump can, and the democrats can beat Trump. I believe that democrat who will beat Trump in 2024 will be Gavin Newsom. He's being backed by the same tight group of billionaires who landed Pelosi as Speaker of the House. It'll be Newsom atop the dem ticket in 2024.

If Biden goes head-to-head with Trump then Biden will win. It is holding off Gavin Newsom that Biden has to worry about. Trump has no shot either way.

Are Senators elected by national election? Cause I see them win quite often. I remember voting for Romney on the same ballot that I voted for president.

I hope you are right about trump having no chance. Personally, I think he is the favorite to win it.

Black Americans are demanding to know what “Black jobs” are after former President Trump used the phrase in Thursday’s debate with President Biden in Atlanta.

In response to the first 2024 general election debate’s only question on Black voters, Trump took a shot at Biden’s immigration stance.

“The fact is that his big kill on the Black people is the millions of people that he’s allowed to come in through the border,” Trump said. “They’re taking Black jobs now and it could be 18, it could be 19 and even 20 million people. They’re taking Black jobs, and they’re taking Hispanic jobs, and you haven’t seen it yet, but you’re gonna see something that’s going to be the worst in our history.”

Black social media users immediately demanded an explanation of what constitutes a “Black job.”

“What exactly are Black and Hispanic Jobs!?!” the NAACP posted to X.

Jaime Harrison, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, agreed, posting: “What the hell is a “Black job?!”

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) said that she wished CNN’s moderators had asked for clarification on the comment.

“I still don’t understand the ‘black job’ comment, it would have been nice if there was a follow up to understand what he was trying to say,” Omar posted.

Meanwhile, some took a more humorous route to express their confusion.

“Well, now that the debate is over. Time for us all to get ready for bed so we can be on time to our #BlackJobs tomorrow,” BlackPAC, an organization dedicated to building Black political power, posted along with a meme of actress Viola Davis removing her makeup.

Trump’s comments came in response to CNN moderator Dana Bash asking Biden about what he has done for Black voters, particularly as there appears to be growing dissatisfaction with his White House among the demographic.

Biden, in his response, hit on historically low Black unemployment rates under his administration.

According to the White House, from September 2022 to this February, the Black unemployment rate remained at or below 6 percent. In April 2023, the unemployment rate for Black workers dropped to 4.8 percent. In April this year, the unemployment rate for Black Americans was 5.6 percent.

Under Trump, between 2016 and 2020, the Black unemployment rate was about 8 percent. From 2000 to 2015, it was 11 percent.

In post-debate coverage with NBC, Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.), the upper chamber’s only Black Republican and a possible Trump running mate, tried to dodge questions on what the former president meant by “Black jobs.”

NBC News’s Tom Llamas asked Scott if phrases like “Black jobs and Hispanic jobs” offend some American voters, but the senator said no.

“Here’s what I can tell you is that whether you are a Black person or white person or a Hispanic person or any person, Native American, but whatever, you want are more jobs,” said Scott. “You want your wages going up, and what we saw under Donald Trump was at the bottom quintile of wage earners saw their wages go up faster than the top quintile. That translates into more spending power. But under Joe Biden, we’ve seen the exact opposite: $28,000 of lost spending power over the last three and a half years. So you can talk about Black jobs versus white jobs. I think the bottom line is Donald Trump provided more American jobs.”

Black social media users appeared unhappy with Thursday’s debate, with some even going as far as calling it the “whitest debate” they’d ever seen after Biden and Trump began talking about golf and arguing about their handicaps.

“The caucasity of this debate is taking me OUT,” said David Johns, CEO and executive director of the National Black Justice Coalition, a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black LGBTQ people.

“If this is not the whitest s— I’ve ever experienced in my life I don’t know what is!” Johns exclaimed.

Both Biden and Trump are courting Black voters, though Biden leads Trump with the demographic.
Trump did not say one true thing the entire debate. Not one. The fact checking computer AI quit then burned down the machine. He used nothing but hyperbolic perfidious rants and senile borderline-demented Biden could barely keep a single thought in his head, let alone go after Trump for all the open ******** he was spewing. It should have been the perfect opportunity for Biden to just call ******** on everything Trump was saying but I really got the impression that the dementia is far further along than anyone could imagine, except maybe his handlers and closest friends and family, and Biden just had zero counters to all the softballs Trump was lobbing. Now I am wondering about all the other stuff, was Biden really wandering away in some of those other clips? Was he ******** himself? I wouldn't be surprised after the devastatingly non compos mentis performance on the biggest stage of this election cycle.

Now I have to wonder, is it better to have a truly evil and maniacal Trump, who can at least string together a coherent sentence as president, or a demented and obviously mentally-flailing Biden where we do not really know who would be governing for him as he is obviously incapable of it himself.

Nah, it is still better to have Biden where the worst he could really do would to be declared incompetent and we get the first female president by default at that point. Still way way better than the unmitigated evil Trump would attempt to unleash and the collateral damage he would do in the process.

God I hate this so much. The worst presidential election cycle our country has ever seen, with the 2 worst candidates our country has ever seen on stage at one time, hands down.

Can you show me some photos of large crowds of people wearing Biden shirts, hats, flags, etc chanting something?

Look, one bad debate and Dems turned on Biden. Trump literally said he could shoot someone on 5th avenue and not lose any supporters. He was calling his supporters sheep in his cult. Crickets. No criticism.
He cheats on all his wives, and sleeps with pornstars. His flock compares him to Christ. He steals from a charity, creates a fake university, steals from his flock via stop the steal fund, steals from his flock via build the wall fund. His supporters think he is honest. He suggests injecting disinfectant into our bodies, talks about soldiers storming airports when airports didn't exist, rants about sharks and batteries and says all kinds of stupid crap on a nearly daily basis and his flock think he is very smart. He is crude, classless, narcissistic and his flock think he is good person. He talks crap about soldiers and disrespects the national anthem and his flock think that ol bone spurs is patriotic. He calls foreign leaders to blackmail them into investigating his political opponents, he tries to steal an election and his flock thinks he is fair and not a cheater. He wears makeup and has fake hair and his flock think he is manly. He sells hats, shirts, trading cards, shoes, coins, Bibles, steaks, etc yet bankrupts businesses and always asks his flock to give him money for various things and they just say he is a good business man. He loses in court over and over and over and over and over again. His flock think he is innocent and uncorruptible.

Not even close to the same. If you can't see the difference then you are blind.

I am that group in the middle. I have thought Biden sucks since I ever knew of him (I have known trump sucks for decades). I voted for Elizabeth Warren in the Democratic primaries in 2019 and had Biden near dead last in my ranking. I voted for Bernie in 2015 primaries. (My state won't let me vote in the Republican primaries sadly since I'm registered as unaffiliated). I never voted for a Democrat or Republican prior to 2015 in my life.

The Democratic party failed in 2016 by pushing Hilary Clinton onto us when it was clear she had a massive negative image with a huge portion of the U.S.. The Democratic party (I'm talking about the people who actually work for the DNC) has, in my opinion, been more controlling of who their Presidential candidate will be. They seem to have a seniority system based on service to the party and don't allow silly things like public sentiment, or the wants and desires of their constituents, to influence their pick. Obama jumped the line for a few reasons, but most significantly because of his 2004 (I think) convention speech. Also for demographic reasons, he was on the younger side, without being too young, he was a black person, without being too black, he was well educated and a great speaker without coming off as arrogant or superior. He essentially took Hilary's turn, so in 2016 they owed her the Presidency. It lost them the election.

Biden was one of the worst possible candidates in 2020. Except he was low on the "things people hate" scale. He was not a minority. He was a straight long-married man. He is Christian. They picked Biden out of fear, not out of inspiration or hope or courage. Buttigieg, might lose because he's openly gay. Warren, a little too aggressive about economic equality (aka what Republican voters call a socialist). She's a woman. She believed her oral family history and believed that she was part Native American, to the point that she took a DNA test and stupidly declared victory because she had like 1/500th of Native American DNA. Kamal Harris, a little too ethnic. A California liberal with some bones in her closet related to her role as California AG. Bernie Sanders, too old. Too open to being labeled a socialist.

The Democratic party saw too much risk in everyone but Joe Biden. Little old non-offensive, long-time party loyalist, you know exactly what you're gonna get from him, Joe Biden.

Joe Biden is the President of the U.S., so the de facto leader of the Democratic party, and his dumb *** decided to run again. What could they do? If the party put out an actual strong challenger they would beat each other up in the primaries and give away a lot of the advantage of being the incumbent party.

The Democratic party tries hard to be the party of the lower classes but it is mostly just lip service. They will never boldly act to improve the lives of the lower classes, they are actually far more careful and "conservative" in their approach to governing and politics than the Republican party which is ran like the wild wild west in comparison to the Democratic party.

The Democratic party has failed for decades to provide a decent healthcare system for the U.S. (when I say that I mean a decent system for paying for healthcare services. Our actual healthcare infrastructure is very good). The democratic party has done NOTHING to stop the redistribution of wealth to corporations and the ultra wealthy. I don't think they even want to do that, despite what they sometimes say.

The democratic party has failed to pass the Equal Rights Amendment, or really do anything to improve civil rights, civil equality, equality of opportunity, in the U.S., and I wonder if they even want to.

Joe Biden allowed the withdrawal of Troops in Afghanistan to become an unmitigated disaster. He owns that 100%.

I mean I could keep going, haven't even talked about inflation yet, or creating and controlling narratives, which is the current specialty of the GOP.

Speak for yourself. I have been here showing examples of this mentally void asshat for years now. The fact that people lack such basic common sense is frightening. I mean... This is the guy that his own DoJ said was too mentally stupid to even be on trial for his crimes he committed and not one of you said a word. His...own...DoJ... I mean why do you think the Biden administration and his KBG are illegally withholding the tapes where his own DoJ admitted he's not even capable of staying on trial. Guys like @fishonjazz like to call others cultist and bully them for not calling out Trump when he stayed completely silent when Bidens OWN DOJ said he should be prosecuted yet he's not mentally capable. There have been hundreds of instances that Biden is dementia ridden. That's not hatred, with my younger years my mind may be mush at that age, it's common sense. Biden is 81 years old... a good chunk of us will have issues.

This.

I mean if the rest of the Republican party would hold Trump accountable..... If we would truly have checks and balances to keep trump in check. If there were enough people to stand up to trump then I wouldn't be as opposed to trump winning as I currently am. Problem is that if trump wins he is going to hire yes men all around him in his cabinet. He won't listen to anyone. He will rule how he wants with no one to stop him. He will control the house, and the Senate (Kamala won't be the tie breaker in the Senate anymore. It will be the my pillow guy or something instead) and the judiciary (he already owns the supreme court).

Roger Stone and Steve bannon and Mark meadows and Rudy Giuliani and the like are who will be "advising" him. All the best people.

Someone stands up to him or disagrees with him and they are fired.

Ya we have all been saying he is too old from the very beginning. I don't recall many posts in this or any thread touting the greatness of Biden. Quite the opposite in fact. I have said 10's of dozens of times that I think Biden sucks and I never wanted him for president.
I remember hoping some dude named Dean Phillips iirc would get the Democratic nominee and I knew nothing about the dude. Just wanted somebody not named Biden

Also really really hoped that Nikki Hailey, or literally anyone else, would be the Republican nominee. But here we are.

Will he illegally pay off student loans after the Supreme Court says it was illegal though? Tell us all more about you being a hypocrite please.

Funny you bring up Steve Bannon who's rightfully going to jail for contempt yet you've never said a word about Bidens own Merrick Garland being in contempt for hiding the tapes where Biden stole classified documents, illegally sold them to his guy who wrote his book, then hid them for years in a garage. They are literally hiding evidence of Bidens crime. Do you give a s* of course not, you only give a s* when it suits your cult. You accuse others of you. You are everything you accuse others of. You should worry about yourself.
