2024 NBA Free Agency Thread

If OKC throws a bag at Hartenstein, their ability to R&E Lauri is pretty much cooked, right?

How do you figure? I’m okay with looking at options to getting the pick unprotected, but I don’t see too many realistic pathways.
The Jazz are $50 million under the cap and need to get to the salary floor. It would be wise, IMO, to rent the cap space not necessary for the Lauri R&E, especially for an expiring (rather than go shopping).

I’m down with you on the how, but not sure on the who? Who can the Lakers trade for that cap space that actually moves the needle either way? And is a guy that they’re willing to move in order to make the deal happen?

Absolutely a way for the Jazz to make this happen. Lakers wouldn’t have better partners than the Jazz for this.

And as long as they’re trying to acquire a player on the verge of falling apart, it probably doubly helps the pick.
Yep, that was my line of thinking. . .

Suns are cooked. Their luxury tax payment would be larger than their team salary in 2025-26.

They are dead in the water. If they don’t blow it up now they are dumbasses

Bobby Marks saying Lavine has no market and Chicago has been trying to attach a 1st rounder in order to dump him. Would you take that offer?

No
If he’s not taking a big enough paycut to get them the full MLE then he shouldn’t take a paycut at all. Maybe threading the needle is another 1 + 1 PO at the meaningfully discounted number and he reups next year? IDK.
Haha when I read that tweet I was thinking the same.
