2024 NBA Free Agency Thread

I don’t think the tone from the Jazz has changed on Lauri…despite the clipped/out of context tweets, the message has been the same.

Having said that, it seems as though the Jazz are striking out on all plans to pair talent with Lauri and have been striking out for years. Their desire to keep Lauri may be the same, but their options for moving forward with him are drying up quickly.

I still think it is overwhelmingly likely that Lauri does a R+E. But it’s looking more like a tank+Lauri scenario vs a upgrade team+Lauri scenario.
I agree, kind of. I think the R+E is happening. I think the Jazz will go super young in an effort to maximize their chances at a top player in 2025, but I still think DA will look to pair Lauri with another star player, plus all the young guys currently on the roster. If they don’t pan out, I think he churns it some more, but I think the long-term plan hasn’t changed.

Maybe not all the rumors were true, but there’s like 10 guys they were in on and besides John Collins they whiffed.

I think there is chatter about it whereas in the past there was none. Lowe and Woj both just mentioning to watch it is meaningful imo. I think it’s like a 10% chance type of thing but I can see scenarios where outside opportunities and scenarios may have some influence.

As this starts ramping up. . .

Are there any free agents that you would really want the Jazz to pursue?

I’m assuming they do something, but who and at what cost?
Naji Marshall is the main one for me.

Wait why is Paul saying he won’t be back with the clips. He already knows after 5 minutes that Philly are offering a better deal… how? It would be illegal for them to already have had conversations. Why would the risk a severe tampering penalty?

I’m not following everything 100%, but whenever I see a tweet that something along the lines of “Jazz listening to offers” - per Woj it has always been media aggregation BS.

Like it will be Woj on ESPN, the tv host asks him specifically about Lauri, and Woj responds with something simple to make it interesting but reiterates the Jazz don’t want to do this. But the aggregators will chop out the context. It’s this simple formula that drives clicks, headlines.

Not saying that’s what you’re referencing, but that’s all I’ve personally seen.

Did not expect Val to be to the Wiz. Keeps the number of teams needing a C higher.

Kessler/Collins trade looking slightly more likely.

I think you're confused. The conversation was about if the Sixers were tampering for the small possibility of getting a discount on a Lauri trade.

They would be tampering to make it happen… they “don’t have enough to get him”. So it’s the difference of having him or not having him.
