But all the reporting has been he wants to. Not sure why he would fake it. I think he's at peace with whatever outcome because he knows he's getting paid and will be valued where he goes.

It's what I'll choose to believe.

I think it's possible, based on reportedly being in on Mikal Bridges, that our FO and Lauri were hoping we could add some pieces to improve the team. When that didn't work out, then maybe Lauri is hesitant to sign the extension and so now we are looking at our options.

That's exactly right, they are on national TV and know how this works. Is it more interesting to say a fun trade idea is not happening? Or is it more interesting to say it could happen. There's a reason why the news aggregators chose to clip out the parts they did.

To me, "teams are calling but the Jazz ain't listening" is the same message we've heard since last summer.
That wasn’t the message lol.

I mean, I wouldnt be absolutely shocked if the Pistons were better than the Hawks? That feels like a hot take with how bad the Pistons have been, but Bickerstaff is a solid coach and Harris should be solid in Detroit. They got a competent team now with him and Simone as shooters with size next to their athletic young core.
I think at absolute worst the Hawks first is still a lottery pick.

It’s a confluence of couple things imo some on his side some on our side.

In the Lowe clip you sent me, he literally downplays it twice in 10 seconds. So yeah, I didn't find that convincing. To each their own. I did find the other stuff happening around the league (Bridges, Murray) more convincing, I specified that in an earlier post.

I think a lot will come down to Jalen Johnson's growth/health, but they're a 36-win team that traded their healthier star for picks and added a very raw prospect #1 overall.

Washington, Charlotte, and Brooklyn feels clearly worse, Chicago is still in limbo, Toronto and Detroit feel comparable, but the top 8 (except maybe an injured Miami) feels clearly better

I’d agree….the East is freaking bad though, I think teams who aren’t trying to lose on purpose will find their way to mid. But even if they end up in the play in/close to it…you get way more lotto balls than you did before. I don’t think people have fully adjusted their expectations to that change.
I think East was worse last year than it will be next year. Bulls are the only team who finished above Atlanta who may be trending downwards (albeit not if they get Lonzo back). Bucks are likely gonna make the Giannis/Dame work better, Knicks, Sixers and Indy are all making moves and Sixers had bad injury luck so they could win many more games. Magic are pretty likely to improve just by their young guys imrpoving, and even Detroit seems hell bent on not being the punching bag they were. Raptors and Hornets could also theoretically improve as they also got a lot of young guys.

Nets are probably donating a lot of extra wins to the pool for others to grab, but there are plenty of takers for those wins.

Might be a hot take but Washington could win more games than they should next season too.

yeah, that's not going to happen. Maybe they get a few more wins, but they are still a sub 25 win team and likely the worst team in the NBA.
You’re probably right but they did add Valanciunas and Sarr plus Bilal looks like the second coming of Giannis.

I think Sarr is going to be pretty bad year one. I like the Jonas addition, but Sarr playing the 4 (at first at least) will be a pretty big negative. Jordan Poole still exist.

However bad Wizards are gonna be though, they dont have many wins to donate. Hawks also won their season series against the Wiz 3-1 last year.

It’s just hard for me to grasp how someone who uses so many words doesn’t see the difference between “yeah they will move Lauri if you overpay by infinity” to “they are likely to extend him and keep him but they are listening to offers and it’s a situation to keep an eye on”. Especially since we’ve been here twice before.

I hear what you are saying but there are some laws that are undefeated… never bet that the Wiz will exceed expectations is one of them.

Minor detail about Lauri trade....Depending on the trade we might come away with significantly more cap space. We're saying ~$18M (or whatever it is) for the R+E....but if we traded him for Graham, for example, we would be opening up all that space in addition the difference in contracts. DET was the cap space leader, but after Harris they only have $24 left. A Lauri trade would put us in the poll position unless we take back significantly more salary than we send out.

Be real funny if we did end up getting Lavine, but it's a situation where he's the tank commander and we're the salary dump location.

It's going to be very difficult for our young guys to look good at all without Lauri.

This team without Lauri will be very difficult to watch aesthetically.
True, but they’d basically be back where they looked to be headed preseason 2022 - minus Conley, Olynyk, Vando, Beasley, NAW, Fontecchio and Lauri.
