Me too.
Remember the "we can't tank with Lauri" posts?
We literally tanked our asses off with Lauri the 2nd half of last season.

Maybe people thought that adding Williams and losing tht made us too good lol

True! I will have to say that adding a clearly over the hill Paddy Mills hasn’t and won’t hurt us a bit in that regard.

Key was supposed to have at least one good shooting game by now that we could excited about. This is rough.
We are at some point going to be discussing whether Hardy is approaching this the correct way. There are different teaching methods that work for different people. Thus far we have given Key entitled minutes, greenest of lights and pretty much asked for higher volumes. Maybe thats not the correct way to push development out of his shooting, and Hardy needs to introduce some stress into his diet or something.

I dont think we are at that point just yet, but his start to this season is bad even for a "cold streak".

The Jazz just can't shoot. Here is our team ranked by 3pt%: https://www.nba.com/stats/players/traditional?PerMode=Totals&TeamID=1610612762&dir=A&sort=FG3_PCT

Brice, Lauri, and Flip the only ones shooting above 33% from 3.

Here is the breakout of our shooting by zone:

We are shooting 22% from midrange and 20.8% from above the break 3.
Doesn't seem like we are shooting very well at the rim either. Do you have any stats showing that? Seems like sexton, key, Clarkson and even Kessler have missed a bunch of shots right at the rim.

Also seems to me like we haven't even shot a good percentage from the line lol

It was in one the links I shared. We are shooting 59.6% at the rim, which is currently 7th worst in the NBA.

My current theory on Keyonte is that he is just too easy to game plan for. He doesn't have enough counters when teams take away what he wants to do and gets frustrated and then he starts shooting poorly. He was great in summer league, looked extremely promising in pre-season, and had stretches last year where he looks like the next great Jazz player. Then he gets in to real games this year and has been awful. I think he needs the players around him to be great to take pressure off of him. With Lauri out and everyone else playing bad, he can't take over a game.

The issue is the team is freaking awful and if he doesnt take these bad shots the team is looking at shot clock violations or bad shots from Jordan Clarkson.

It does feel good to give OKC one less asset. OKC fans got to be kind of disappointed now that it looks like they might not get a pick out of the Favors trade.

The Jazz finally playing to my expectations. I don’t know why all the whining and bitching. This is awesome!!! I’m enjoying the hell out of this. I will admit, the first half had me nervous, but we pulled through in the second half and got the dub.

A lot of people going with the theme of “Keyonte has too much pressure”. I understand that to some degree, but I also think that’s another way of saying he’s not very good with the ball in his hands. His role definitely exceeds his ability, but his role isn’t anything crazy compared to a normal pg. People have mentioned him taking a lot of grenade shots….not actually true as Lauri/Clarkson have been the ones taking the majority of those shots.

Life is tougher when your teammates suck, this is true. But right now the biggest problem is how much Keyonte himself sucks. Thankfully, I don’t think he is this bad. It’s not possible for him to be this bad. There are ups and downs over the course of the season. He’ll play much better at points in the future. The bad news is that when looking at his larger body of work, all we have is a sample of him being a terrible player.

Ya I would buy the excuses if there was some evidence. Like if someone could show how great of a shooter he has been in early shot clock (non grenade situations) situations.
Or a stat showing he has been awesome when a different player handled the ball more often and he didn't have to do as much.
Fact is that he has just been really bad in basically every situation against every defense/defender with every lineup iteration from everywhere on the court. Turnovers are high. Defense bad. Offense bad. I'm failing to find much positive so far this season.
Kinda of good news I guess is that I could say that for a lot of jazz players lol. Only a few players I can find something good to say about. Kessler is blocking shots at an elite rate. Flip is balling. Collins has been pretty awesome and playing tough as hell. Lauri had one awesome game. Patty got hot for a stretch. Sensabaugh has shown some flashes. I think Sexton had a good game this year. That's about it. I will say I have seen keyonte play with pretty high level effort for the vast majority of his time on the court. Only saw laziness and sulking a couple of times. Which is good.
Welcome to hardcore tanking I guess.

I'm not sure about that. He seems to get to spots where he can definitely make the shots he is given. I agree about frustration showing in his game, as especially when we fall behind by a lot he starts making more mental errors and probably his shooting percentages dip as well.

Last game he started off terrific with few assists in the first few minutes and he made a contested 20 ft pull up. I dont think Spurs really did anything to counter him at any point, but despite hitting that tough first shot and having a good start he still missed all his 3 point attempts including one which was essentially a practice shot with absolutely no one coming for him:
1. Uncontested pull up off a screen, true, hard back iron
2. Wide open transition jumper, true, hard back iron
3. Wide open spot up corner 3, true, hard front iron
4. Slightly contested step back, (maybe) true, grazed front iron (almost air ball)

He was actually playing just fine in the first half. He was like 0-5 from 3, but you’ve just got to have some faith those good looks will eventually go in. He was good with the exception of making good looks.

But in the third quarter that’s when things went off the rails. I think he had 3-4 turnovers in the first five minutes and they were bad. Terrible mental mistakes. I wouldn’t call them “unforced”. But an NBA guard should really be able to handle some basic ball pressure.

Yeah he definitely can get to really bad mindspaces (I also facepalmed hard that stretch).. and part of that is fine as he is obviously competitive and gets frustrated when the team falls badly behind. The he starts forcing the issue etc, and at some point when it gets out of hand he starts playing like he dgaf.
