Game Thread Nov 19, 2024 08:30PM MT: Utah Jazz @ Los Angeles Lakers

Added to Calendar: 11-19-24

These last few losses have been absolutely textbook. Look bad most the game but then show some spunk and get it within 10 for a bit but still secure the L.

Kind of hilarious that for as bad as the Jazz looked for the majority of this game- like completely inept- this ended up only being a 6 point loss.

Knecht was getting draft looks inside the top 10. Not sure why he fell all the way to 17. He was obviously going to be able to score. The knock was his defense, his fairly average size, and his age limiting his ceiling.

He obviously just had a Klay Thompson-like outburst.

Players like him falling out of the lottery is a bit of a win/win for them and the team. They get to win right away, and teams in the playoff mix get a guy who is ready to contribute at a low cost right away.

I would prefer it if our players started playing well before the game is out of hand, but beggers can’t be choosers.

Sexton and Clarkson were using up a lot of the offense in the first half. Nice to see Key take over.

What was Cody obviously going to be able to do?

Playmake, get to the rim and convert, defend multiple positions, probably shoot well enough, maybe self-create and beat smaller guards in isolation. That's what he did at Colorado when he was engaged. Cody's problem is that his body isn't ready to do most those things right now.

It's no consolation, I know, but when Dalton Knecht was Cody's current age he was playing at Northeastern Junior College. Knecht was a 5th-year senior by the time he got to Tennessee.
