Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Shooting 2/12 or 4/15 is a slump. Shooting 3/29 (his last 6 games) makes it look like he just can't shoot. There might be scenarios or spots on the floor where he can shoot with his feet set. Maybe the problem is that he's always in motion. At the same time, a lot of his appeal is supposed to be his ability to play off the dribble.
Many of his shots are set and wide open. Shooting is a weakness of his (like I been saying all year)
Plays good defense and makes really good reads. A lot of his best passes don't show up in the box score. He gets a lot of hockey assists.
Besides his poor shooting, his next biggest weakness is that he sucks at getting past his defender 1 on 1. Poor first step. His handles seem pretty good though.

I watched the first half of that Duke game at the gym.....Coop was quiet box score/score wise, but his IQ on both ends is actually incredible for his age. He's Draymond like while also being one of the best scorers in the draft.

Imagine throating VJ Edgecombe and at the same time acting like Flagg sucks....
VJ's shooting seems to be trending the right way. I think I will still have him top 4/5 at the end of the season... but to your actual point... yeah some people just want to have a dumb take I guess.

At this point he's in the bottom part of the lottery to me, and he's dropping rapidly. Only thing keeping him there is there arent a lot of prospects who are making strong pushes for late lottery. Kind of a weak draft after the top 6 or so.

I'm in on him but I get it.

I think there are 7ish guys I feel good about now. Tre Johnson is a guy I like but I am hoping Brice is what Tre is supposed to be. Not that you can't have two of that player but if I thought VJ and Egor were in a similar talent tier I'd go that direction.

Ace is not in that 7 for me. I'm officially scared of him and if we landed top 4 or 5 I'd pray he's off the board.

You'd really take VJ over Ace? Not a fan of either, but I'm betting 100/100 times on the 6'10 guy with questions vs the 6'2 guy with questions.

VJ’s stock has definitely fallen for me, but I’m not seeing enough players to bump him out of the top 8 or so.

I still have VJ > Ace and Demin.

I mean if he comes in at 6-2 maybe I change my mind but yeah... I'm a little skeptical that Ace is 6-10. Like I doubt he has 8 inches on VJ.

Right now I think I'd go VJ... the free throw shooting is deeply troubling for a guy that is a shooter. Some of the indicators on VJ are still good.. even though overall he's disappointing. If VJ continues to trend up with his shooting and Ace continues to shoot like Walker Kessler from the FT line then I'm just not sure what he is.

I've soured on Egor a bit too because so much of my initial opinion on him was based on his improved jumper because of his hot start. He proceeded to miss like 50 straight threes lol. so I'm sliding him down. Still a lotto prospect... still a guy I like but he clearly has some stuff to figure out.

I think my top guys as of right now are:

Cooper
Harper
Kas
Fears
VJ
Tre/Egor/Ace - Not sure on them right now.

I think the top 3 is fairly solid as long as they are all healthy. 4-8 is likely crazy fluid...

I would be thrilled with any of the top 3....I think 4-8 I'd be fine with and I think there will be one or more stars in that group, but I would feel underwhelmed after a full year of tanking.

1. Flagg

2. Harper
3. Kasparas

4. VJ
5. Ace
6. Tre

7. Fears
8. Demin
9. Traore

Other guys I like relative to mock positioning:

Philon
Wolf
Bryant
Fleming
Essengue
Sorber

VJ looked really good, really dynamic, at the Nike Hoop Summit last spring. He's a guy who is likely to rise during workouts. However, it's a question of what he projects to be in the NBA. At the moment, he looks like a defensive-minded combo-guard. Maybe he can take some reps on the ball like a Terry Rozier or Cason Wallace. I could see him go in the 7-10 range, in part because the draft seems to flatten out after the top 6 or 7 guys.

For the Jazz, I like:
  1. Flagg
  2. Harper
  3. Jakucionis
  4. Johnson (because he shoots and passes better than Bailey)
  5. Bailey (because he does have a very high ceiling, and it's possible he can be set up in more advantageous situations in the NBA than in college)
  6. Fears (because there's a chance he can be a high-end lead guard)
  7. At this point, I'd probably take a swing on Edgecombe just based on what he showed at Hoop Summit, but it depends in part on how he measures out at the Combine.
I think McNeeley is a lottery guy in this draft, and the way things are trending he might go ahead of Demin.
