Following Potential 2025 Draftees

Does anyone have an opinion on Yaxel Landeborg? I like the way he moves and plays for for his size, but the film I've seen of him is against super bad competition. He's also old.

Traore with another good game in tournament play. 19/3/3 in 23 minutes 8/14 from the field, and 2/3 from 3. His team lost though, so I believe they are done for a little bit.

Since following him this year, it seems like he has his best games in the biggest games. I think he has as much upside as almost anyone in the draft, but also has a high bust potential as well.

He truly has some of the highest highs and the lowest lows.

Who's your 7 and why?

I think the majority of us have Flagg, Harper, Ace, Kas, VJ, and Tre Johnson top 6, so who would you put at #7 and why? If you have someone higher than one of those guys, who and why?

I'm genuinely interested because I'm just not sure at all who I would have there.

This draft class is weird.

Flagg is having one of the best statistical seasons I can remember. Like Zion levels of statistical dominance.

Harper had an AMAZING start and then has faded completely. He should probably go like #3 in a normal draft but will go #2 here.

And everyone else is just ehhh.

Tons of players that should go 6-10 in a normal draft.

FWIW, On the Hoops Collective they did a mock draft and had Tre Johnson as like 12th, they had McNeeley at 6.

Tankathon has Kon and Khaman at 6,7 ahead of Tre.

Keandre has Khaman and CMB ahead of Tre.

Might make a longer post later as I was thinking about this exact thing today. For me it’s Traore. Out of the remaining prospects, I think he is most likely to be an all star. He has real attributes with his speed and playmaking ability. He’s a different than Collier in many ways, but has the same thing where if he can shoot it he’s probably going to be really good.

His efficiency has been really bad and overall he’s been very inconsistent….but if you were going to be very optimistic, you could chalk that up to his extreme usage and role. He’s second in both usage and AST% in the French league at 19 years old. Clearly he’s not ready for that, but what if he was in a more modest role? I will always say that exceptions are not the rule, but it does feel like Traore’s role is extreme and somewhat comparable to Lamelo in the Aussie league. There’s a chance that he’s just doing too much and that if he had a real role we’d be thinking of him much differently.

But his concerns are very real nonetheless. The best argument I have for him is….who else?

FWIW, I don't think that anything is crazy right now. I can't think of a name that is likely to get mentioned where I would think it was completely unreasonable.

I watched Rutgers - Oregon. Nightmare tape for Bailey.

Ace's talent is immense, but his feel/IQ is definitely off. Feels like he takes way to too long to process things on both ends. He looks good when there's a single action on his mind like isolation offense with no help or man to man defense....but if things get more complex than that he gets in trouble.

I do feel as though Tre has a more natural feel as a scorer/offensive player. The defense can send anything at him and he will react to it well for the most part.

Tre Johnson

Danny Wolf is top-6. No I’m not kidding.

VJ with another good game against AZ. Didn’t see it, but you love to see the 14 free throw attempts.

Carter Bryant also had 7/6/6. I think his role player ability will have him end up in the lotto. Good feel for the game, promising shooting, and great defensive attributes.

Top 3 pick in this draft.

God I hate that Baylor team. Bunch of undersized chuckers who still provide no spacing. It's a miracle VJ is able to get to the basket playing with those dudes against NCAA's "clogged toilet" defenses.

Not Hoop Collective. That's the game theory podcast

Reincarnated Kelly Olynyk. With all the same strengths and weaknesses.

Remember that Kelly didn't look that slow or unathletic at Gonzaga. In the NBA, it was a different story. I like to watch Wolf play because he's so different, but he will be a defensive disaster in the League.

There is no comp

Also, why in god’s name would you use that to demonstrate your point? I don’t know what people think they are seeing when they watch him.
