2024-2025 Tank Race

Jazz have done it. They have the worst record in the league. Can't believe it
About a month ago I posed a question in this thread about why we’re not doing what it takes to out tank other teams. At that time we had just beaten Houston and sat about 4th worst.

After that win we sat Lauri for consecutive games for the first time in a month (and have sat him extensively since). That tells me that we’re (finally) taking tanking seriously.

Good to see the fruits of that finally.

We’re not finishing last. We got two more games to win against the Wolves. Basketball gods hate the teams with the worst record.

I agree that we won't finish last. But we will finish bottom 3 which is the real goal.

It would be amazing if the Jazz actually had a loss cushion towards the end of the season so I could actually really want the team to win a game or two to end the season.
Hell ya. That would be awesome

Crazy to look at the standings and see all these teams that I have been worried about at some point during the season that no longer worry me even a tiny bit.

Portland, New Jersey, Philly, Toronto, Detroit, San Antonio.

Only teams to even worry about at all anymore are New Orleans, Charlotte, and Washington.

Basically absolute worst case scenario with a bunch of games still left to go is 4th worst. And really I think we have bottom 3 nearly locked up.

When the season began I knew we would tank. But I thought that if we didn't make trades to hurt our roster then the absolute best we could hope for was 5th worst if everything went perfectly.

This season has been wildly successful from a tanking perspective. A masterclass. Maybe the most egregious tank ever done in NBA history (probably wrong but IDK)

Yeah the Jazz surprised me.

Just a month ago I question whether we have what it takes.

Now? No more questions. We have what it takes.

Whhaaatttt are the Wizards doing ??

Seriously. It’s destiny.
I think this is part of their plan. I think they determined at the deadline that they wouldn’t fall out of the top-3 odds and that it would be best for whoever they draft to land in a spot with some seriously seasoned but still good vets already on the upswing.

Nothing else really makes much sense.

Good explanation. They know that they will have the best odds at Flagg now basically no matter what so might as well see what their guys can do.

I'm talking about regret, not making a bad decision in the moment.

Either way it is a silly post. Once you get to a certain point of maturity, you understand that 1. regret does nothing but continuous mental harm and 2. there are two types of regret. Where you had a choice and made the “wrong” one (you had actual control and data points) and the other where you made a choice and later on and you found out the other was not necessarily the right choice but led to something after the fact that was impossible to predict at the time of the original choice. That’s just life and you are a weak person if you ever regret that for more than a moment. So, I don’t think Hardy is a mentally weak person and no he did not regret that for more than a day.

Washington is 6-4 in their last 10. This is wild.
The trades really helped them get winning players (even though they were "selling"). Plus their rookies have really come into their own lately. And, they don't seem to be purposely sitting guys much these days.
