What's new

NFL Offseason

Arizona has the best wide receiver since Jerry Rice.

Our punt returner has just two less touch downs then Miami's number 1 wr LOL!

Also Joe Thomas is better then Jake Long.

Only reason it's not a shoe in that Peyton goes to Arizona is because Arizona already has Kevin Kolb.

-Yes Arizona has Larry F, but they have very little else to offer in way of offensive weapons and their O-line is a mess.

-Joe Thomas is great, probably the 2nd best LT in the NFL but I'm sorry, Jake Long is better. And regardless, the Joe Thomas argument doesn't matter in this situation. Jake Long is easily the best LT in regards to the teams that are in the hunt for Peyton. Manning is going to pay very close attention to whose guarding his blindside when choosing his next team IMO.

-Arizona is once again a sinking ship and Peyton probably does not put them over the top. Not to mention that the Cards O-line probably coudn't protect him even if he did choose Zona.

Cards were 8-8 this year.

Also Cardinals finished the season 7-2 the last 9 games with a quarterback named John Skelton, also teams they beat were Cowboys and 49ers (also they lost to the Giants earlier in the year due to a controversal call in the last minute) Imagen Peyton Manning now.

In the discussion of Cards v Phins, it's worth noting that the Dolphins as an organization are far from stable and their coaching situation just isn't nearly as good as AZ's.

He'd be crazy to go to the Broncos. They have a great o-line but their weapons suck and their defense has some holes like an aging Brian Dawkins for one. I suppose if they were able to sign Mike Wallace (for their 1st) and also beef up their defense some, I'd feel differently but I'm not so sure. Personally, KC makes the most sense to me, even if it isn't warm weather. Very good o-line. Great weapons. Very good young defense. If they drafted well and signed one or two key vets on defense, they could go to the SB imo.

The 9ers win was good. I have no idea why you're touting a win against a Cowboy team that couldn't even make the playoffs, the loss against the Giants came earlier in the season when NY was riddled with injuries, and their 8-8 record looks less exciting when you consider they were playing in the weakest division in the NFL.

The list of Arizona's positives in regards to landing Manning begins and ends with Fitzgerald, and that's not going to be enough. I do think Peyton has narrowed his list down to Denver, Arizona, and Miami, but I think it's in Miami's favor that he is meeting with them last. He's already familiar with Miami's facilities (used them for a week during his Super Bowl appearance) and like I said before, they've got the best offense to put around Peyton not to mention probably the best defense of the 3.

While I still don't see Peyton playing in a cold weather stadium, I'm guessing it comes down to Miami and Denver.

I thought the Chiefs were pretty impressive for a team that played considerable stretches with three different QBs where one was just awful, and the other two were the poster-boys of mediocre.

Their weapons are so freakin' dynamic to me. Charles is a stud. They have backup backs who are more than capable. McCluster is such a tough matchup for defenses and can be used from basically anywhere on the field. Bowe is/could be a manchild ala T.O. Breaston is a great second receiver. And Baldwin is just huge and came on strong last year.

The weakest division in the NFL??? LOL

NFC west has the second best playoff record out of ANY division in the NFC and AFC since 2005. Thats a 7 year sample size btw.

Seattle Seahawks were solid this year, Arizona was borderline good, and SF49ers were one of the best teams this year. Rams were horrible this year, yes they collapsed.

Excellent argument. Peyton's decision is obviously going to be influenced by the likes of Sam Acho.

Do you even know who he is? A 23 year old who had 7 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery in limited time last year as a rookie lb and is emerging quickly on the scene. Please don't comment on a topic that you have little to no knowledge of.

I love your posts. No matter what the subject matter, you always seem to come across as a sad and bitter little man.

The Broncos also have over 50 million in cap space. They can fill those holes and fit Peyton in. Their defense was much improved this year and is very young outside of the DB's. The offense sucked because they have no QB to throw the ball. They have a much better Oline than Arizona and can also sign Saturday to get a starter at "C". The weakest spot on their OLine. They could also theoretically add Wayne and Clarke from the Colts to go with Saturday and Manning.

Rumor has it that Denver, Arizona and Miami are the 3 remaining teams. He refused a visit to Seattle and KC. My feeling is that it is really between Denver and Miami. Arizona has to shed 16+ Million dollars just to get under the current cap and that is without a contract for Manning. It will not be easy to get Manning and build an Oline with no money. They also have no room to add players Manning may want to join him.

Steelers are forced to get young.

Hines gone :(
Farrior gone
A Smith gone

My hope is somehow we keep Wallace. I'll be amazed if we do.

Woodley and Ben restructured but this gain will be a playoff team that needs to get hot to make a run

Draft wishes for the 1st is Poe from Memphis or Hightower slips to instantly replace Farrior.

2nd round... Best player available at T or G OR Corner/Free Safety.

Also take a late round pick (5th) on a RB since Mende is coming off injury. Utah State anyone ;)

Joe Thomas is the best LT in the game. Miami has much better beaches than Cleveland and great sushi but not better LTs. Long is a better run blocker but doesn't do what Joe does, which is win his matchup every game. There is no pass rusher in the league who has a history of beating Joe Thomas. Abraham had one good game. One. Also Joe has never missed a game in 5 years.

The Manning thing is great, I hope he goes somewhere and does well. Peyton is a superb ambassador of the sport and is a perfect role model. He's a true pro.

I thought it was crazy even for Snyder to put up that huge a ransom for RG3. That team needs draft picks worse than mine does. What that means is Cleveland is essentially on the clock. Luck #1, Griffin #2, Kalil #3, Cleveland. I've stated before there are 4 blue chip prospects in this draft and I still think so.

Does somebody trade for Claiborne? I am certain Heckert would be willing to trade down.

.... Long is a better run blocker but doesn't do what Joe does, which is win his matchup every game.

Not sure I agree with you there. Two years ago when I watched Jake Long manhandle Jared Allen in a game against the Vikes, I think he established himself as the best LT in the game. For my money, Jared Allen is probably the best pass rushing DE in the NFL right now. You're right, Jake is a better run blocker than Joe, but I think Jake wins his matchup each and every game as well. Either way, arguing who's better between the two is pretty silly. They're obviously the best 2 LT's in the NFL IMO and if one truly is better than the other, it's not by much. I give the tie breaker to Long because, well, I'm a Dolphin fan and that's what I'm supposed to do.
Either way, of the teams who still might have a shot at Peyton, Long is easily the best blind-side protecter of the bunch.

The longer this goes on, I'm starting to think Denver has the best shot. Arizona doesn't have the $$$$ to sign Payton, bring in a few guys like Reggie Wayne/Dallas Clark, and shore up that Oline. Their Oline is horrible and I just don't see Peyton choosing them for that reason. Plus Arizona has to have an answer by this Saturday as they are faced with the decision in regards to Kolb and a $7 mil roster bonus he will be do.

Miami might still have a good chance if they can be patient, but I don't know if they can. If Peyton hasn't let them know by tomorrow, Miami could be left out in the cold for Matt Flynn. The Dolphins have a tough decision if Peyton decides to drag this out a little longer. Do they risk letting Seattle or Cleveland swoop in on Matt Flynn only to have Manning choose Denver? Or do they cut themselves out of the Peyton race and snag Flynn before anybody else can?

Joe Thomas is the best LT in the game.

I do think Brown that since you've watched Thomas (Being a Browns fan) that your opinion could be swayed a bit.

Not going to say Thomas is not better than Long though.

I am a Long fan (Being a Michigan Fan) and watched him since his early days in Michigan so of course I'll be swayed that way.

I think the easy answer is it is sixes... you can't go wrong with either guy. It is like choosing between the hot blond and the hot brunette. It's a flavor of the day for most.

I think I would trade 4 of the Steelers lineman (Everyone but Pouncy) for either one of those guys and be happy.
