Miles to Nets?

Not sure how reliable - but here goes:

Sources tell HOOPSWORLD that the Jazz and New Jersey Nets have discussed a Miles swap for pieces like Anthony Morrow and Johan Petro. The Nets would like to trim off as much salary as possible for the offseason when they hope to attain the services of center Dwight Howard. Miles has an expiring deal while both Morrow and Petro have another at a combined $7.5 million.

It remains to be seen what the Jazz intend to do with their $10.9 million trade exception from the Mehmet Okur trade but they are a team with tremendous flexibility.

If that's the case just let him expire. Or send Jefferson to Orlando, CJ to NJ, and take back Okur while NJ gets Howard.

Petro is worthless, but I like Morrow. He's a good shooter. Burks and Morrow would make a good rotation at the 2. If they insist on using some of the Memo TPE, a pick better be coming our way as well. Otherwise, it's just CJ for Morrow.

Well, CJ IS Deron's little buddy. Maybe bringing in Miles - and offering him a contract for next season - will be NJ's way of trying to convince Deron to stay, and by extension, attracting Howard as a FA (if Orlando decides to not make a deal).

I would be willing to trade CJ Miles for a towel boy. If we could trade him for a guy that has even watched a game from the bench. PULL THE TRIGGER. Maybe I'm being harsh, but I think I'm not the only one that would want to trade a pretend 3 point shooter for someone that can actually drain them from time to time.

I like morrow. trading miles for him seems like a steal to me.
I bet that's why NJ wants Petro included. Jazz get to upgrade Miles to Morrow, but the price to them is also taking on Petro.

If NJ want to clear cap space, they could send us the cash to buy out Petro as part of the trade (with a nod and a wink they will re-sign him at some later time). His contract stays on the salary cap of whichever team buys him out, which is why they can't buy him out themselves. This transaction could cost us $0, just add $3.25M to our cap figure and use up some of the $10M Memo Money TPE. We get Morrow, they get Miles' expiring contract and can continue to delude themselves they have a shot at getting D12 and keeping D-Will. Good trade.
