Raja to Clippers?

Kentucky is gonna make it to the Final Four, but they won't win it all. Calling it right now.

Quite a shaky limb you walk on there. UK is the best, most talented team, and no one disputes that .. but it's one and out .. and only once in the past 8 years has the #1 overall team won it all.

Its painfully obvious that Kentucky has the most talented team in the country, no discussion. However, much like you said, the one-and-done tournament format means that the games won't always ever come down to talent. To me, its akin to Germany's successes in the soccer world (I know many of you won't be able to relate, but bear with me). Talent wise, they never have one clear cut superstar, nor are they the most deep of teams. However, they play so efficiently as a team, that they always somehow end up in contention for a championship. To me, the winner of march madness is always the team that plays the most "like a team" in all of college basketball. A team that can have different players fire off when one isn't producing. A team that always gives 110% on the defensive end. And most importantly, a team with a lot of NCAA experience. This lack of experience, is what I think to be one of Kentucky's weaknesses in a tournament like this. If they kept the same roster for 2 years, winning it all would be nearly guaranteed. However, the youth of the core of the roster makes things a bit more unpredictable. If that makes any sense.

I'm pretty sure President Obama has picked North Carolina 3 if not all 4 years he's been the president. He seems to have a connection to them for whatever reason

Didn't he go practice with them a few years ago. He is probably friend with Roy Williams.

Another TPE? Don't the Jazz already have 2-3 of those?

Wrong. Obama picked North Carolina his first year as president. He then picked Kansas the following two years. This will be his fourth bracket.

Maybe I don't understand how TPEs work, but when you use a TPE, doesn't it go away. It's not like we would be acquiring a TPE, right? If that were the case, then these things would go on perpetually, right?

I was under the impression they can be traded as unlimited number of times and only expire when the original players contract expires.

For example the TPE we got for the Memo trade expires when Memos contract does. We could trade it to anyone and they could trade it and so on...

Clarification anyone?

While Bell for nothing is a good deal, it'd be nice to get a conditional second rounder out of it.

As far as I know, TPEs expire on the day one year after the exception was obtained (the player was traded).

According to Wikipedia - Traded Player Exception: If a team trades away a player with a higher salary than the player they acquire in return (we'll call this initial deal "Trade #1"), they receive what is called a Traded Player Exception, also known colloquially as a "Trade Exception". Teams with a trade exception have up to a year in which they can acquire more salary in other trades (Trade #2, #3, etc.) than they send away, as long as the gulf in salaries for Trade #2, #3, etc. are less than or equal to the difference in salary for Trade #1. This exception is particularly useful when teams trade draft picks straight-up for a player; since draft picks have no salary value, often the only way to get salaries to match is to use a trade exception, which allows trades to be made despite unbalanced salaries. It is also useful to compensate teams for losing free agents as they can do a sign and trade of that free agent to acquire a trade exception that can be used later. Note this exception is for single player trades only, though additional cash and draft picks can be part of the trade.

So if we used our Memo TPE to get Joe Blow who makes $10MM, then I would assume Joe Blow's former team would then own a TPE for $10MM, which would expire 1 year from the day we traded Memo, right?

That's how I read it. So yea you are right on the 1 year thing.

These TPEs may look good on paper, but are not often used to obtain important pieces. Both the Cavs (LeBron) and the Raps (Bosh) got TPEs that they were not able to use before they expired. We used the one we got from the Boozer deal on Big Al, but that was more of an exception than a rule. The Lakers are also hoping to get a PG for their Odom-TPE, but are having trouble finding someone that fit the bill and are available for a TPE.

While some sources are claiming the Los Angeles Clippers are in talks with the Utah Jazz for Raja Bell, those close to the team deny Los Angeles has any interest in the veteran guard. HoopsWorld

Ugh, please trade him and Miles, KOC. Please? Verlin, Franklin, CT or all three will give it up to you if you do.
