The dude might never develop a Ray Allen 3 point shot... But his ability to drive, hang, rebound, defend, make crazy shots inside, get to the FT line, score, and make big buckets scream a young D-Wade to me. He can do it all (except for maybe cast away from the 3 point line). Just like Wade.

Personally, I think he's the SG we've been needing for years. A SG that can create his own shot. For years we've had to rely on a PG and no one else could create. Wes Matthews was an improvement over what we had, yet even he doesn't have the ability that Burks has.

Plus, he's a hard ***. He plays with a chip on his shoulder. He wants to be the man. He's not afraid of the spotlight. He didn't back down from Kobe tonight. That's awesome.
 
I always compared him to Maggette, but maybe he does have the overall skills of DWade. The future is almost blindingly bright right now. If somehow KOC can add another wing and a PG...Utah is going to be scary good.

Hey, Deron...were you watching the game tonight? Maybe your best shot at a title is to come back to Utah.
 
I could imagine Kendall Marshall getting the outlet passes, then swinging the ball down court to Burks, then Burks driving to the hole against an unset defense.
 
Wade-like or not, this dude was a steal at number twelve. He brings a lot of energy to both sides of the floor and isn't afraid of anything. His ability to finish around the rim has been stellar.

Not anointing, I just said he had a very similar game to Wade when we was coming out of Marquette. Very similar college careers overall, styles, bodies etc.

Their bodies are the one thing that isn't similar. Wade is so, so strong. Burks will never have Wade's strength. Other than that, I see the similarities. The body control, the layup control, the PG skills, drawing contact.

He's not as thick as Maggette. And as I remember, Maggette could post up. But his ability to get to the FT line and basket is comparable to what Maggette used to do (to us especially).

I think his ability is very much D-Wadish. D-Wade his rookie year averaged 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. Had Burks played 30+ minutes per game this season, I don't think he'd be very far behind D-Wade statistically. Today he had 17 points against one of the best teams in the league, against Kobe Bryant, without really having any plays run for him. If there was ever a game for him to choke in, it would be this one.

Just watch the next game. The way he drives, the wear he contorts his body, the ability to hang and draw contact, his ability to finish.... Very much Wade-like. Watch D-wade even. The way he scores isn't that he runs over guys like Lebron. He crosses them up, slashes, and absorbs contact.

Key word here was "college". But Wades bi-styled-cepts were indeed larger, Debra Detail.
 
I dunno, I think D-Wade comparisons are a little off. Wade is 2 inches shorter and 20 lbs heavier.

I think a more apt comparison, is Penny Hardaway. Man wouldn't it be nice if Burks got that good?

I just don't think he will ever have the kind of strength Wade has. Wade has a lower,stronger center of gravity. Burks is kind of wiry.

Oh dear Gordon, I hope not. He certainly does have the me-first attitude of DWade, and I can see him wearing a bandaid under his eye for no reason.




Also, stop licking your Gordon Damn lips! You make Ronnie Brewer look like... I dunno, someone who doesn't lick their lips a lot!
