What's new

Josh Howard out for season!!

Get your head out of the sand. It has nothing to do with wanting to see negativity. It has to do with people have been in favor and wishing for people getting injured on here long before Howards knee problem. then they come out with this crap.

Give me a break

I thought about making a new thread with a poll, but instead i will just ask you Gojazz since you are one of the "classy guys"

Which scenario would you choose? (hypothetical of course. No guarantee that any of this would actually happen)

Scenario A: Josh howard and raja bell never get hurt and play all 66 games. Burks plays a few minutes here and there with some more DNP's.
The jazz end up making the playoffs as an 8 seed and get swept by OKC (OKC killed us this year when howard and bell were healthy). Then we sign howard again next year and howard and bell stay healthy for all 82 games. Burks plays more but still not as much as he should and hayward gives some of his minutes to howard and bell also. We end up as the 7th seed and lose in the first round in game 7.

Scenario B: Josh howard misses the rest of the season to a knee injury and bell retires as his aductor injury continues to linger. Burks and hayward get major minutes for the rest of the year. Jazz end up as the 7th seed and lose in the first round in 6 games. Next year burks and hayward continue to get major minutes and the jazz end up as the 3 or 4 seed. They make it to the 2nd round of the playoffs and go to a game 7, nearly making the western conference finals.

It seems that you think a TRUE jazz fan would choose Scenario A, but i would argue that choosing Scenario A means that you are more of josh howard/raja bell fan than a jazz fan.

Back to the thread now..... i believe that those displaying positivity/happiness at learning of howard injury, were being happy because they believed that the jazz would be better without howard (just beat LA in LA and OKC).

Oh and since we are supposed to be sooo sad about what happened to howard, does that mean that we shouldnt be enjoying these wins?

Just some food for thought.

You make me smile Bord

By the way Gojazz, bordelais was basically saying that we shouldn't be sad about the howard injury because the young guys get to play more, which is what i have been argueing all this time.

I know that. He was just funny about it. Some people are still happy Howard got hurt and they can **** off. I stand by that.

Having said that I am happy that the young guys will be getting more time. Just sad to see it happen at the cost of a guys health. They are not one and the same.

We will have to agree to disagree. Because I am bored with this subject adn dont want to talk about it anymore. I have said my piece.

If Andres Nocioni is offically bought out, maybe he would be good for pro-rated veteran minimum money to fill the Josh Howard spot. Hayward is better off the bench, so I like bringing someone else in who can start and keep Hayward as the sixth man, like Harden in OKC.

You are mis-understanding.

See they are saying that IF THEY HAD TO CHOOSE someone to get injured then it would be bell or miles.

Kind of like if you had to choose between something bad happening to someone in your family or a neighbor, then you would probably choose the bad thing to happen to your neighbor. Nothing wrong with that.

So it makes it better because it wasn't Howard? Sorry but you can rationalize all you want but wanting any Jazz player to be hurt so another can play is classless and insensitive. My reading comprehension is just fine. It seems you are lacking in the ability to comprehend the meaning behind what was written even if the EXACT words were not being used the intention is implied.

I think all you folks voicing this sentiment can just hop down off that high horse. Nobody is glad he's injured.

Not true. I am.

They are simply happy someone else gets an opportunity. Nobody really wants Bell injured either, they just want him out of the rotation. And they only want that because they want someone else in the rotation.

Not even close to true. I would like to see Bell go down with a career ending leg explosion. Hell, two of them.

Being glad that any player is injured is classless. It doesn't matter how they perform.

Wrong. I LOVE it when I hear that Kobe is hurt, or DuhBron, or Crymello, or Fisher, or... *insert player you hate here*. Are you trying to tell me that you've never been happy about Kobe being injured? Seriously? Stop being a lying quiff, and come back to the real world.

For those celebrating his injury **** you. Hope he recovers quickly and everything goes well in the surgery.

Ya, poor guy. Millions of dollars to sit at home, smoke weed, not practice, not have to go to work, and eat lortabs all day. I imagine that Josh is probably celebrating more than most of us "classless" fans.

I like Josh, actually, but he's not good at basketball anymore. He's pretty much sucked *** for most of this year. The Jazz are better with him staying home. Win/Win/Win. Now, pos-rep me.

Fair enough. I always feel like an idiot when i get into petty arguements such as this, and usually mangage to resist.
Everyone is entitled to thier own opinion and despite how i have come across on this particular subject, i do respect your side of the arguement and see where you are coming from

Right now, if I were to run into a player on any of the teams that are currently below GS in the standings, I would push them in front of a bus personally, and I'd do it with a smile on my face. Yep, even Deron. I still love D-Will, but sometimes in life you have to look at the greater good.

Some people on this board just don't understand true dedication to one's team. They're not true Jazz fans.

I feel terrible for Howard. It was nice to see the Jazz actually have a SF that knew how to play the position. Howard rebounded well, cut to the basket well, he even posted up. It was a nice change after years of watching AK.

So you are saying you would rather have Howard than AK?

Not true. I am.

I stand corrected. I guess I gave folks too much credit.

My bad.

Why is this still a sticky?

We don't need a flagged place for folks to show their *ss.

Don't get me wrong, I think it is worth discussing...just not stuck to the top of the chart

Just out of curiosity, has anyone here ever had any serious knee injuries?

What happened? Could you still walk? What did it feel like? Did you end up having surgery? What was the rehab like? How long did it take you to be near 100 % again?

I am all for finding the silver lining in a bad situation...but it should be just that, the consolation that takes the sting out of pain.

I liked Howard and thought that he made us a better team. Early in the season, Ty experimented with a line up of Howard and Hayward that I loved.

So I guess the silver lining is that this came at a time when Burks has some experience under his belt, and can make a solid contribution. Not sure that was the case from the start of the year. I think there is value in giving a player time so they can develop, but I also think they need to earn the time. Giving a young hotshot time that he doesn't earn may actually set him back in development rather than speed it along. I think Jazz management are doing a pretty good job of setting a standard for these young guys to play to to get on the cour,t and rewarding them with significant playing time when they do well.

Hayward was clutch down the stretch against OKC, and Burks got meaningful minutes against the Lakers. Not sure what else we could realistically ask for from Tyrone.

So I feel bad for Howard and wish him the best. But I never thought that he was anything more than a one year rental.

Wow. You are on another level.

You said it man.

Weren't you running for some office or another down there a little while ago?

Yup. Not sure what that has to do with anything, other than common sense > cry baby nonsense -- in which case, I agree and point back at your original point: I AM on another level.

I stand corrected. I guess I gave folks too much credit.

My bad.

Keep at it, buddy. With hard work and determination, you too can rise above mediocrity. Good luck with that.

"Ya, poor guy. Millions of dollars to sit at home, smoke weed, not practice, not have to go to work, and eat lortabs all day. I imagine that Josh is probably celebrating more than most of us "classless" fans."

Apparently about Howard who is out.

Just one of the many really insensitive assertions by a guy who is supposedly some kind of representative in Utah? Seriously you people vote for this guy? I'm in Idaho and won't ever have an effect on this clown's career but for real. TB is a serious politician? I have heard all my life that Utah is a great state. Sorry for you if you vote for a DB like this.

Insensitive assertions? I have a serious question for you, because I really want to know: Are you retarded? How many people here would take Josh Howard's situation right now over theirs?

And while we're on the subject of you not knowing what you're talking about, I am not a politician. I ran for City Council and would've done a hell of a good job had I been elected. Instead, I volunteer 8 nights a month to the city on various committees and councils. What are YOU doing to better your city/town/life? Nothing? Shocking, really.

p.s. The Browns suck.

I would take josh howards situation over mine anyday. I always wished i could play basketball for a living and make millions and millions of dollars. I had knee surgery last year myself and had to miss work which ended up getting me behind on bills so i had to work lots of overtime to catch up.
Josh howard is in a wonderful situation.
Plus the jazz are playing better than ever.... seems like we all should be happy

The argument that people are classless for being happy about Howard's injury is laughable. First off, I'm one of those people who are happy about the situation. I'm not happy that Josh Howard is hurt. I'm happy that Josh Howard isn't playing, it just happens to be that he isn't playing because he's injured. I'm a Jazz fan, not a Josh Howard fan.

The Jazz are better for having Josh Howard out of the lineup. How is that not something to be happy about? It's not as if Howard is paralyzed and in a wheelchair. Essentially, the guy is being paid millions to sit around most of the day, rehab some of the time, have sex with just about any hot girl he wants, start shooting basketballs, have sex some more with a different hot girl, shoot some more basketballs, buy a new Cadillac SUV, etc, etc. Yet some people are classless for being happy about their favorite team being better because that guy is out. Hysterical.
