The Perfect Offseason

If KOC whips out his "I traded a superstar in his prime" balls this summer, then I think he could pull off some sweet stuff. While it's highly unlikely, I do think if KOC can pull off the first of 3 moves, that he could possibly get Gasol, Nash and Ray Allen in the offseason. I'm bored, so let me have my fun. The first domino that needs to fall is to get Gasol. His stock is low right now, but being the 3rd option for a team doesn't usually pan out well for someone w/ his skills. LA desperately needs to shed some salaries (and if they get expirings for him, then they'd be in the running for CP3, Harden, etc. after next year - with Pau on the books, they're stuck).

So move number 1, trade Paul and Al for Pau. We get the best player in the deal, while also saving ~$3MM for this upcoming season. This would put us about $7-$8MM below the cap. We then throw $14MM for 2 years at Jesus Shuttleworth (having Pau couldn't hurt to persuade him). The final move is to go after Nash. I know it's against KOC's nature to amnesty a player (especially one making as much money as Harris), but if KOC was certain he could get Nash, then I'm sure he could talk Greg into amnestying Harris and we could offer Nash 3 yrs $21MM (note: it's also possible that we could pull off a sign and trade if PHO wanted to get something instead of nothing for Nash).

You can't tell me if we had Pau and Ray Ray, Gordo, Favors, Kanter, Burks (#8 pick??) that Nash wouldn't be intrigued.

I know we'd be taking on a lot of future salary, but only Nash would have more than 2 yrs, and I don't think we'd do any better in the highly anticipated 2013 offseason.

I really think the Lakers would seriously consider a Jefferson and Bell(to be bought-out) for Gasol deal. They are getting two expiring deals at less money than they are currently paying Gasol, and that gives them the opportunity to go after some big names in the summer of '13. Keep Millsap. Do NOT throw that much money at Ray Allen (have you watched him play in the Philly series?), make a play for Nash, and develop Favors.

****, my perfect offseason would be if Derrick Favors had a "Karl Malone summer of '87" summer in which he discovers weightlifting and builds his body even more, while working on his post moves. A stronger, more skilled Favors would be enough for me to consider the summer a success. Anything else is a cherry on top.

I like this idea, and since we are dreaming.....

.....Jazz trade Bell, Harris and Al to LA for Gasol, sign Nash, get the GS pick at 8, trade Milsap to NO in a three team trade that lands the jazz Kwahi Leonard and the #10 pick. The jazz draft Lilliard & Zeller (or Terrance Jones) in the first round, and Robert Sacre or Kyle O Quin in the 2nd. Jazz reinstitute the Rocky Mountain Review and play a 20 game summer scedule at the ESA with tickets for $5, kids get in for free and all drinks including beer half price. Jazz end their deal with Root Sports and announce they will broadcast all games, including summer league on Kjazz in high def.

Durring the Olympic warmup games, Hayward, tired of being treated like a pansie, blows up after Deron sticks a wet finger in his ear. Hayward lands a furry of punches to Derons face before being seperated by Blake Griffin, who Hayward lays out withone punch.....and forever lays to rest all the taunting.

Ty Corbin announces he is changing the offense and will feature more PnR with Favors, and encourage spreading the floor with 3 pt shooting.

Cj Miles signs with Portland.

Good point on Allen. He's been banged up for most of the 2nd half of the season.

You win.

1) I would like this:https://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=cw6os3d

2) Then an acquisition of Nash for Harris (Harris is traded).

3) Brandon Rush or similar player

4) Patty Mills or better backup PG with good three-point shooting

Our Team: (I would prefer a 9 player rotation with Evans getting the fewest minutes in a 10-man rotation)
Nash
Hayward
Millsap (had a good percentage from corner threes)
Favors
Gasol

Mills
Burks
Rush
Evans
Kanter

Re-sign Fransisco "Frank/the Sensei" Elson to a 5 year deal.

Letting CJ walk takes a close second

Mellow for GM!

While we're dreaming, I want to pry Ryan Anderson and another 3 point specialist away from Orlando for the Memo TPE. They might do it chasing another player to keep unDwight reHappy.

As much as this trade may make sense, the Lakers have invested a ridiculous 60+ million in cap space to an aging Bryant, Gasol and head-case-in-the-making Andrew Bynum. They clearly have no where to go but down for the next 2 years.

I'd hate for The Jazz to be the team to let them off the hook.

I'd also have to question whether or not a cupcake like Gasol would really be worth 19mil when he doesn't have a perimeter player like Kobe who can bail him out. Think Pau his last year in Memphis.

I agree as much as I would love to have Pau instead of Jefferson, I don't want the Jazz giving him 19 mil a year and missing out on signing a young stud like Harden in 2013

Not a huge fan of Gasol, but I'd love to have him over Big Al.
Throw in Nash, end up with the 8th pick, draft the black falcon, and spend every moment waiting for next season.

Three more perfect off-season dreams:
1-Derek Favors ditches Al and spends the summer in Atlanta being mentored by Hakeem Olajowan (sp?) where he learns the ways of the force, and the dream shake.
2- Kanter spends the summer at the Malone Ranch in Texarkana and despite being utterly confused by Karls mixed metaphors and southern idioms, he learns how to lift weights, get deep position in the post, and dunk on people.
3-Jazzfanz has its first ever summer social at a park in Magna, where we eat buckets of chicken, and Enes is the guest of honor.

I will literally fly out to Utah, rent a car, head to Magna, and partake in this summer social if it doesn't conflict with my summer school. Set up a date.

Perfect Offseason (Ignoring reality)

Favors
Ibaka
Kanter
Millsap
Evans
Harden
Hayward
Brandon Rush
Carroll
Burks
Nash
Tinsley
Marshall/Lillard (depending on your taste)

13 people...

Trade for the 14th pick before the lottery selection. It moves up to the #1 spot, therefore knocking the Warriors back to 8. Nothing else matters.

I think if we had a summer social, I would end up punching Cyrone Torbin in the face. Just saying

There better be beer included in this summer social.
