Jazz as the third team in a Dwight Howard trade

Losing teams want decent losing players who are expiring contracts and if the Magic are going to trade Howard why don't the Jazz find a way to deal them Jefferson and Harris.

I think the Jazz should try to be that third team in a 3 team deal that doesn't get Howard but uses their expiring contracts, TPE, and draft picks (GSW) to give to the Magic exchange for a set of young decent players.

One that I would be particularly interested in especially if the Sixers can convince Dwight Howard to stay in philly (look at the article below)

Plus the Sixers throw in the 15th and 45th picks while the Jazz throw in the 47th.

We get a shooter in Reddick who is also an expiring contract that we could sign for cheaper or not resign, and a good young upcoming PG in Holiday but we have to take Hedo's contract which would come off the books by the time we need to give money to Favors and Hayward. Plus he provides us with a temporary starter at SF in case Corbin doesn't want to start Burks right away. If Hedo continues to suck, move him to the bench and give Reddick/Burks more minutes.

Holiday/Watson/Burks
Hayward/Burks/Reddick
Hedo/Hayward/Carroll
Millsap/Favors
Favors/Kanter

As for reasons, the Sixers and Magic would like this trade would be pretty obvious.

The Sixers get Dwight Howard which is a no brainer why it's a good trade but only if he signs a contract extension which he should since the Sixers are a very good up and coming team. Trading away Iggy lets Turner come better into the picture.

The Magic get three draft picks plus they get two all-star level talents and a past all-star in Harris.

Even if you dont like this particular trade, I think with the trade assets the Jazz have (draft picks, TPE, expiring all-star/above average caliber player contracts), we can kill two birds in one stone if we act as that third team in a potential Dwight Howard deal.

Do you ever rest from thinking about stupid trades?

That is his role on Jazzfanz. Lay off him for it. Your role is to question every player and be down on them and high on players that no one else likes. Then when others start liking that player then you have to not like them. We all have a role and that is how this community works.

In yo face Cy! In yo face!

If the Jazz are the third team in a deal, it will likely be that they use their TPE from Memo.

Not a chance he comes here lets be realistic

Players go with the money and if he is restricted free agent he is going to tend to use that to max out his value. Much like Jason Terry, Corey maggette, Okur, Boozer did signing with the Jazz. Question is how much is he worth? He is the type of player the Jazz end up over paying for to get.

Agree, but a 1 in a million odds are better then taking on Hedo's contract. I want no part of him, and Holiday is over rated as a pg. I would love to have Reddick as our sharp shooter but not if that means taking Hedo and his fat *** contract as well.

True I mean I tried to make this as least lop-sided as possible. This trade obviously benefits Sixers and Magic more than the Jazz, we don't even necessarily have to take Hedo's contract. My point was more about us using our trading assets than this particular trade. Although I don't think Holiday is overrated, he is a good PG and could resign for a relatively cheap price.

Something like this:

Has KOC ever been a part of a 3-team deal? I can't recall one, but the caffine isn't working for me today.

The only thing I do remember is rumours about a three team deal that fell apart after it was leaked and Kevin OC was pissed....wasn't it the T-wolves that leaked it? Anyway, that brings me to my next point unrelated to the thread topic (sorry CT) Adelman sure has reigned in Kahn. The past 3-4 years Kahn made the draft a spectacle, Adelman goes up there and not only did the T-wolfs start winning now they are acting all proffesional --how dissappointing. As a Jazz fan suffering through KOC's media blackout I really liked Kahn's antics. GS leaks some but nothing like Kahn did, Morey is being quiet in Houston, Ainge has two picks but is tight lipped like KOC, this draft year sucks, and only gets suckier 'cause the Jazz went from two potential lottery picks to 0 first round picks by playing a bunch of players who aren't even going to be on the team next June.

Rant over, I'm out and off to find another Pepsi.

I think if I'm Orlando I'd rather keep Turk's bad contract and take back Jrue myself. They can stomach continuing to pay Turk so much when Jrue is paid so little.

third teams brought in are usually to "broker" the deal by helping even out salary between the initial two teams. the jazz did that back in 2004 when they still had some cap space, but since then they haven't really been in a position to be facilitators like that.

however, they do have the memo TPE that works much the same way, so i suppose it's possible. i would imagine KOC will get a phone call anytime someone is looking for a creative way to make an uneven trade happen, because all those GMs have a list of current TPEs, and utah is high on that list.

Its good to know that our GM will throw a fit and cancel any trade that is leaked. Afterall its more important to keep things a secret than it is to improve the team.

Why dont other teams care? They seem to like leaking trades. Why does it get under KOC's skin so bad?
