Brandon Roy wants to come back...interested?

Watching the Dream Team special on NBAtv, when they showed the USA Select Team, I realized that Grant Hill is amazingly still playing. I don't know why Brandon Roy can't do the same. Give him a shot. He can't be worse than Raja. He can't. Can he?

That's like saying every movie that ever comes out can't be worse than a Larry the Cable Guy movie.
That's like saying eating sushi can't be worse than eating red snail poop
That's like saying staring at the wall can't be worse than watching a full game of baseball with Larry the Cable Guy throwing the opening day pitch (sorry baseball lovers)

if we were willing to gamble to be josh howard's rehabilitation program and jamaal tinsley's rehabilitation program...we'd be absolutely stupid to not gamble on roy. roy was way better than those two when at his best, and he's an A+ character guy.

worst case scenario is he's not ready and we're out 1-2M. best case we finally have the elite 2-guard we've been pining for.
 
Utah has success with veteran minimum deals for two guys that were basically out of the league last season with Tinsley and Howard. If he would go for that kind of deal and see how Howard and Tinsley both had some success, then I would go for it. High risk, high reward scenario.
 
Roy won't be limited to as few teams as Howard and Tinsley were. Plus, he won't be that cheap. I'm not saying I wouldn't be on the phone with his agent, but Howard and Tinsley comparisons have a limit.

i'd be surprised if the price is THAT different. we're talking about a guy who missed 35 games last season and all 66 this year. in 2010-11 he averaged a dozen points in 27 minutes, and you have to know that both of thsoe numbers are going to be lower after not playing for a year and a half. nobody's going to pay MLE-type money for that.

I'm not saying he'll get MLE-type pay, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get double what we paid Howard as well as a guaranteed second year.
 
NAOS, i seriously doubt anybody is going to guarantee him a second year at ANY amount. this isn't brandon roy circa 2008. we're talking about a guy who hasn't played ball since 2010 when he scored 12 a game on 40% shooting and hasn't competed since then.
