Nolan and tarentino have very different styles. I don't think it's fair to compare apples and oranges. Can't they both be appreciated for their unique styles?

Shyamalan wins. The man hasn't made a bad movie. In fact, all of his movies have gotten progressively better without exception. I don't think either of these guys can claim that.

Tarantino is a rotten boy who thinks he can get away with anything ong as it's juicy, gory & profane. He depends on his cast for a good result. His scripts have regressed to 1st-grade level. His plots have giant holes in them.

While Nolan... oh boy.

I find many of Tarantino's movies to be kitschy and cheesy. It's like someone said earlier, he's just taking older ideas and films and cheesing them up with over the top dialogue and violence. Hell, even Tarantino will tell you this. Resevoir Dogs was pretty good but I simply don't understand the love fest for either volume of Kill Bill or Pulp Fiction. They were entertaining but not the masterpieces that people would have you believe.

I get excited for new QT films. Nolan films are good, but I didn't even realize he directed "Memento" until about a year ago. QT films pretty much stand on their own. Nolan has used Batman or star power (Leo D.) to get interest in his films, but they are damn good films (I haven't seen "Inception" yet). QT is the star power. Same with the Coen Bros.

I really like both actually. I chose QT because I like all of his movies. Nolan has a couple I don't like (Mostly Insomnia).

However WTF is shamalayaman doing on a poll with 2 great movie maker's. I'll give him that he has a done a few really good movies. But a lot of his stuff is just garbage.

I'll just add this. I like Tarantino and Nolan quite a bit but here's their flaws for me. Again, this is for me.

1) Tarantino--too much "look how witty my dialogue is" at times. He's brilliant. Don't get me wrong. And I like all of his work a lot but sometimes his arrogant personality comes across in his dialogue. Okay, more than sometimes. Perhaps I've seen him interviewed one too many times when he's all coked up but he's just a bit much for me. Again, the dude's a stud so I'm nitpicking.
2) Nolan--he meanders too much with what can be overly philosophical dialogue/character studies (see Stuart Beattie) and tries to tell his story through such rather than let the audience live it through the actions, more subtle dialogue, camerawork, etc. Again, I love his work too but it's a minute flaw for me.
