Following potential 2012 draftees

Here's a mildly bold and unsolicited prediction: Thomas Robinson will go down as one of the top 2 players in this draft, will have a great career, and will draw comparisons to Karl Malone.

Personally, I would trade Kanter for the chance to draft him, and move Favors to the Center position.

Not sure who I would take between Kanter and Robinson. I'll say this, though--Kanter seems like a better compliment to Favors.

They are obviously such different players. Robinsons physical tools provides a higher ceiling, I believe .. though Kanters physical tools provide for a higher floor (if that makes any sense).

Robinson will be better than Kanter if he improves his jumpshot as well as his ball-handling/passing game. Kanter's size, bulk, strength make him an almost can't miss prospect, while Robinson's athleticism and strength will be huge if he can play a bit more in the open court. If Robinson does not improve those aspects of his game, though, and continues to make most of his living on post-ups, Kanter will have the better career.

After watching Perkins look out of place in the Finals, I wonder if the days of big guys that play with power are dwindling. Does Kanter have a place in the NBA as a 35+ minute player in his prime? Or will every team going small for the Jazz to go small too?

It's always been a game of matchups. It's always been a game of combatting size with speed and vice versa. I believe we will never see the day that skilled big men are less coveted than skilled little men. (Perkins is not exactly a 'skilled' big man)

Also when a team does well everyone try's to copy the way they do it. I say the jazz play to their strengths and make the league catch up with them.

The difference is that Perkins has 0 offensive game. I don't expect that to be the case with Kanter.

Bigs who can score and defend will always have a huge impact.

I'm starting to look at guys the Jazz can get in the 2nd round, even moving up a bit in the 2nd - I don't believe the Jazz really have guys targeted that they truly like enough to trade Millsap for (which is what it will take to get in)

Probable 2nd rounders I like (in order)

Doron Lamb
Kostas Papanikolaou
Darius Miller
Henry Sims
Robbie Hummel
Kyle O'Quinn

I don't really see a PG that will be a true answer in the draft - I like Lamb as a combo backup, a couple SF types and I like Sims or O'Quinn as a 3rd/4th bigs which would make it easier for the Jazz to unload a big for a PG without feeling like they're leaving themselves short...

I can't wait to see what Royce White does in the NBA.

If anyone wants to get REAL excited by Royce White, trash the highlight vids and watch the entire game between Iowa St and UK in the tourney .. Royce on display. In particular, toward the end, watch a little dribble move he does against TJones .. awesome. VERY cocky player .. in a good way,
