What's new

tomic available... and apparently soft

I would love Tomic as a bench big. :)

Especially if that means we move Jefferson or Millsap. (Pls Jefferson)

Can anyone clarify when this means he will actually be available? Can he come right now and play with our summer league team and possibly join up for the 2012 season or does this mean he still has one more season with them making him available in 2013?

Just read through this thread again .. glutton for punishment .. and cannot figure out wtf Franklin is babbling about with his Whiskey, lap, and Barnes comments ..

I found it interesting that the only two members who drink heavily and post have both climbed onto the MKG bandwagon I've been pulling.

As to Barnes, I could be wrong but weren't you big on him 3-4 months back? I'm not reading 600 pages to confirm so I'll take your word for it.

I sometimes drink heavily and post. Due to my extensive training in the U.S. Navy no one can tell the difference between my drunken posts and my sober ones.

Bring Tomic over. He would be relatively cheap, he makes one of our bigs extremely expendable.

Second, without shooters on this team, MKG is a waste. He would be awful on this team.

The more I watch MKG, the more I read about him, the more I see him shoot, the more he SCREAMS Ronnie Brewer to me. Look at their combine numbers. They are the same exact kid. Brewer went to a crappy school and MKG is going to piggy back his way to a top 5 pick (though it sounds like GM's are wising up to him and he is dropping the closer we get to the draft) because he played with 4 other NBA players.

Heck, look at his shooting form:

He LOOKS like Brewer when he shoots. Did he break his elbow as a kid as well? He is a freaking Brewer clone that happened to be on a better team with more hype.

No thanks.

available, yes. that doesn't mean he's coming over.

basically, this means he's just a free agent now. he can sign with any ACB team, or because he's not under contract, FIBA would clear him to move leagues as well. that could mean he signs a contract somewhere else in spain, somewhere else in a euro league... or that he comes to the NBA. if he comes to the NBA, we're the only team that can sign him unless we trade his draft rights. make sense? so this doesn't mean he's definitely coming, just that for the first time really, that option exists without having to worry about a buyout.

since no team has him under contract, he technically could come to the summer league, but i kind of doubt they'd ask him to do that. as hard as it is to think of this guy as anything but an unknown commodity, he's a 25-year-old veteran of professional leagues, similar to when JC navarro, jorge garbajosa or luis scola came over. none of those guys were required to go through summer league. so my guess is no orlando for ante unless he is the one who brings it up... and i doubt he will.

None of those guys were released prematurely by their teams either.

yeah i know. almost wrote that... still, i think if the jazz treat him like he has to try out for a fall camp invite, that could be pretty insulting. we're talking about the starting center for the second best team in the best pro league in the world outside of the NBA.

That is an excellent point thanks for the analysis.

If Tomic were a loser as some say, CSKA would not have signed him at all.
Tomic is a good player, make no mistake.
BUT is he NBA-compatible?
no he is not!

His shoes weigh 10 pounds?

Just to reiterate, KOC said Tomic would have to "blow up over there" meaning he would have to start dominating Europe before the Jazz could bring him over. IF he ever comes over, he will be Scola's age.
