No proof huh? Okay, how about AK was our 6th man all year last year? So tell me why that would change now? Exactly, it wouldn't.

AK before his injury was starting for a period of time when we went on a huge winning streak. Everyone was talking about how AK completely changed once he started with Matthews and we looked at our best during this time. That is why AK should start at SF.

Bell should also start. He can play better defense than Miles. Miles is more suited for the 3 position. but can play some 2 if the SG is not too fast. Miles has a problem with lateral quickness against the quicker guards.

It will depend on who plays better during camp. However, at this moment I see the starting line having CJ at the two and AK at the three. This is because they worked into those starting spots last year. Sloan doesnt just hand spots to players. THey have to earn them. Even Jefferson will have to prove he should be the starting PF over Milsap. Or the starting Center over Fes. It shouldnt be hard to beat fes out unless fes comes back like roger clemons.

My starting 5:

Dwill
Bell
Miles
Millsap
Jefferson

AK off the bench for 30 minutes.

I am optimistic that CJ will have a breakout year, but having him come off the bench might hurt him mentally. AK doesn't care and could handle the ball and run the offense at times when Dwill is resting.

Not really. AK was put back into the starting lineup somewhere around late December. He was completely awesome for those 2 months until he got hurt. People forget this.

While I agree that I would rather have Miles as the starter with what he showed last year Bell's defense against a starting 2 is really why we picked him up. So I think that Bell might get the start in order to play against the Kobe, Wade type players to start the game.
That's it exactly.

Bell should start. He'll draw the shooters on the opposing team.

I also don't think it's a given that AK starts at SF. Sloan might like him to head up the 2nd unit. That would let AK have a lot more touches and run the offense as a point forward. CJ could start at the 3, come out early in the 1st and 3rd, then come back in for Raja at SG early in the 2nd/4th.

What I do predict is that Sloan will try a variety of combinations before settling on the best combination. He always does. And a lot of this depends on Memo. If Memo isn't ready to go, then AK will have to get minutes behind Millsap at PF, with Jefferson playing full-time at the 5. In that case, you'd definitely want to start AK, probably have him come out at the 7/8 min mark, then go back in at PF to start the 2nd/4th.

I like starting Miles at the 2 and bringing in Bell off of the bench. Bell might get more minutes in total, but I like having his aggressiveness in with the second unit. Call it the Spurs mentality like bringing Manu off the bench

OK, Hayward starts at the 2 and plays 24 minutes, then slides over to the 3 for another 24 minutes. AK, Bell and CJ can fight for the remaining time. Doesn't matter. Hayward is going to average a triple-double. And the way he was blocking shots in summer league, he may very well have a few 5x5's.

Easy killer, let's try to be realistic about this.

Yeah, you're right. Probably a little over optimistic on the assists. He won't get that many chances with Deron being the primary ballhandler. So let's downgrade his projected to 14/10/8/3/2;-)

Yeah, I can see that. Plus, no one plays 48 minutes per game...my guess is he will average 40-42.

He doesn't have as much hype right now, so I could see Wall starting off strong and holding off Flash for ROY. But Hayward has to at least make the rookie all-star game. Otherwise, it will be a major disappointment.

I would rather have CJ start.

Dont put all your eggs in one basket. by eggs I mean defense for all you slow people out there.

He started 35 out of 82 games. Injuries aside that's not exactly a longterm starter. Plus Jerry Sloan loves to have AK come off the bench to spearhead the 2nd unit.

You could be right about Hayward. The kid has heart. Looks like the Jazz made a good choice there. So start Hayward, then Bell. Use AK at shooting guard otherwise. Send CJ to the D league and bring up someone tough. Don't like watching CJ play. He's just a cry baby. Should have found a way to keep Korver. Mathews must have a great manager because he's not that good.

Bell

As I have explained a few times prior, the most effective unit on the floor would be;

Deron - Raja - AK - AJ - Memo
