Yes .. But I guess some will say that may mean I'm becoming obsolete. I have an iPhone, iPad, and laptop ... I use the laptop a lot as creature of habit.

Technically yes. My only work computer is a laptop hooked up to a docking station and monitor. It works out nicely when I need to do stuff from home. Personally, where I actually have a choice, I haven't used a laptop much since I finished school just over a year ago. I use a desktop computer at home more than the laptop. At home I use my smartphone a lot more than the laptop.

EDIT: I voted no thinking about personal use before it hit me that my work computer is a laptop. I think your quote in my signature is rubbing off on me.

Laptops are too small for the complex spreadsheet **** I deal with. I can compute most of the stuff a laptop can inside my head so I have no real need for one.

a desktop at work, mostly a laptop at home but sometimes a desktop (just because it's hooked up to the printer and it's the easiest way to get things printed) - I'll check stuff on the ipod/ipad but don't use them as much if I have to do any major typing

I use a laptop when I'm at home, desktop at work. I prefer a laptop to an ipad just because I like having keys to hit.

No, we don't have a bet. I just thought we should do a semi-annual follow-up on Salty's claim. I mean, where are we at now? 2.5 years away from his date claimed by which laptops would be obsolete?

I sort of screwed up too. I should have said a laptop or a desktop...if that were the case, it would be 8-0 right now...

Well it would be 7-1 if I hadn't screwed up.

Correct. I was simply assuming that Stoked also voted no even though he does use a desktop which I'm pretty sure, according to Salty, was obsolete last millennium. Hence, my 8-0 statement.

Correct, I voted no.

Laptop for everything pretty much. Like someone said earlier, I like having keys to punch. I'm not really big on being on the cutting edge of technology. If I would guess, I would probably say I won't get a smart phone in the next 3 years, then will get one when they aren't cool anymore and next big thing is out.

I use my phone quite a bit, but still use a laptop (home) and desktop (office) for work (graphic art).

I don't see this changing for quite some time.

Despite all of the "post pc" nonsense tech websites love to talk about, tablets are used as media consumption devices and their territory does not really overlap with laptops or desktops. They make netbooks obsolete, of course. But most of us still need a computer for productivity.
