Becasue they are deductions, not credits, $.85 of every dollar Romney gives to charity comes from Romney's pocket, while only $.15 is tax reduction.
This reminds of the "write-off" scene with Jerry and Kramer.

What else is there? I haven't seen anything about his record as governor. What else is he campaigning on other than his record in business and how it will help the economy? That's hardly his whole campaign.
I would still think he should release them if his father wasn't the one who started the practice. It's just an even bigger shock that he won't release them since his father is the one who started it. Kind of like how if his father was the one who first started saying "I have met my legal requirements" then I could understand why Mitt was also saying it.I'm well aware of that. I still don't see how it relates. Would your own opinion be any different if Mitt's father were not one of the first to start the practice?
Yeah, there have been many polls like this out for a while now. The majority of Americans have been wanting him to release more tax records. And the more he refuses, the more people are wondering what he is actually hiding. Thanks for the reference. No, I wasn't familiar with that. If the majority of Americans feel that way, I'll actually change my mind and agree that Romney should release more returns.

Trust me, the only thing Obama supporters are worried about is voter suppression. And even with a fair amount of voter suppression, Obama is still probably going to win by a decent margin.
Hogwash. Show us the returns.

Requiring ID to vote is part of it. Limiting access to the polls in areas that voted heavily for Obama is another. You mean requiring ID to vote? And if Obama's got this in the bag, then why do you care if Romney releases his taxes or not?

This is why it is so baffling to me that he won't release them. If it was really only a small percentage of people who aren't going to vote for him anyway, then I could understand why he wouldn't release them. But the majority of Americans want him to, and have been wanting him to for a while.
Yeah if millions of democrats in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida aren't allowed to vote, then it will certainly be a closer election than it should have been.So you hope. I think it will be a very close election personally.

true (2 up) , which only shows that he is likely hiding something

If someone can't or won't get a damn I.D. then they are disqualified from voting in my book. TS.
I think it's fairly racist to assume that there are certain demographics out there who are incapable of getting an I.D.
ding ding ding, we have a winner!

His record in business is a huge part of why I'm not voting for him (outsourcing jobs, buying up companies only to saddle them with debt then pay himself a huge dividend and lay everyone off, etc). But I am also not voting for him because I have no idea who he really is. He has flip flopped on every major issue. Is Romney's record in business the reason that you yourself oppose him? I doubt it. If there are other reasons why you oppose him, why is it a stretch to think there are other reasons people support him?
To see what he is campaigning on, I suggest you see his campaign website, here: https://www.mittromney.com/issues (Disclaimer: I haven't read much of it myself.)
