What's new

NFL Thread 12-13

I believe miami also has devon bess to throw to and he is a pretty good weapon. (undersized quick guy ala steve smith, deshawn jackson)
Having said that, i agree with wes that they wont be very good.

Maybe if you mean Steve Smith from USC. Bess is a marginal possession receiver, at best.

If you meant Steve Smith from The Utes, let's fight each other.

I was disappointed but wan't very upset. It's not worth it and I have no control over it. So why go crazy? And in that instance, quite frankly, last season's underachieving didn't shock me after VY's bulletin board material and Vick having played perfect the year before.

I expect much more this year. Our lb's are much improved. We should be hungry as hell after last year. Vick has a ton to prove. Reid's job is on the line. If we can't get at least 10 wins this year, then I'd be upset. Much more upset than last season.

There is no way in hell I'd fire Andy Reid.

Only got to see most of the 2nd half.

We probably will be looking closely at your DL cuts. That wide 9 looks like it shouldn't work but it does. Detroit uses that front too. Your pass coverage in the 2nd half was very good. Colt seems to be a little better than last year. Seneca doesn't.

Bernie Kosar should be a regular season color guy. Looking forward to the real game week 1. Cheers.

Bragging on preseason games is a sure sign you're very young. That and kiddie booze.

Yeah, but drinking a more "masculine" booze and asking to bet sigs rather than money...that's a sure sign of maturity. Tell you what, grow a ****ing pair and bet me $100 on your Browns record. Either that or take your ball, walk away, and prepare your excuses now that you'll be using in 18 weeks when they finish the season as the losers we've all grown to love.

Philly hasn't won a damn thing since 1960.

Way to ignore the crux of the post.

So close. So, so close.

Cleveland has a much richer tradition of winning than the Eagles. 8 chamionships to 3. Jim Brown walked off the field to bang Raquel Welch leaving the game with a career average carry over 5 yards. You think you're so clever with your Denver pic. How did you like not being as good as the 90's Bills? Also the Jim Johnson/McNabb/Dawkins team was WAY BETTER than your current team and would smoke these guys. Vick will never win it all, he's soft and frail. People who drink flavored liquor are just too ignorant to learn to make real boat drinks.

Also don't pretend that throwing a bunch of money in the air makes you better somehow. People who say they win lots of money betting on sports are almost always ridiculous liars. They never admit how much they lose.

Edit to add: I don't have anything against the Eagles or you personally. But you seem to want a pissing match real bad bashing everyone else's teams. The fact is teams like the Eagles and Cowboys have not won anything in their present makeup yet their fans love to crap all over everybody else like they just won the SB. Lame.

Read my post again dumbass..... i said bess is a pretty good weapon, not that he is an all pro like steve smith, or jackson. My comparison with steve smith and jackson was size and quickness.

And i would beat you down if you were to knuckle up with me

Do you watch football? Comparing Devone Bess to Steve Smith and Desean Jackson is ludicrous. The first two are #1 wr's. Bess is a #3. At best.

You say also said that fasano and bush are miami's number 1 and number 2 targets, well here is what espn.com thinks: News: Bess caught four passes for 59 yards on six targets Friday against the Falcons. (Fri Aug 24)

Spin: Bess had the most targets of any Dolphins wide receiver and given the questions marks at the position this year, he looks like the favorite to be the No. 1 guy in Miami in 2012.

ESPN Fantasy Projection: Really? That's the Dolphins' receiving corps? With Brandon Marshall gone from Miami, beggars truly can't be choosers, and Bess might be the closest thing to a reliable WR the team has. He's a slot receiver with a two 75-plus-catch seasons in his recent past, so you'll get your most fantasy mileage out of him in a PPR league, plus he's a strong punt returner who can help in leagues that count those yards. But with only guys like Brian Hartline and Legedu Naanee playing on the outside, it wouldn't be shocking to see Bess take a slight overall upturn.

Obviously he is not an ideal first option, but it looks like that is what he will be this year which is why i said i agree with you that miami wont be very good, but you are wrong if you think that bush and fasano are going to get more passes thrown to them than bess.

And like i told ugli baby..... the comparison i made to steve smith and jackson was that they are all undersized quick recievers. Apparently i pissed you off cause you are an eagles fan and ugli baby because he is a ute fan.

Sheesh i guess i should have used wes welker in the comparison

Steve smiths catches by year in the nfl for the first 4 years (bess has only been in the league 4 years): 1st year.... 10 receptions
2nd year....54 receptions
3rd year.....88 receptions
4th year....1 reception
Grand total: 153 receptions

devon bess catches by year in nfl (for his 4 years): 1st year....54 receptions
2nd year.... 76 receptions
3rd year.... 79 receptions
4th year..... 51 receptions
Grand total: 260

even if you take out the 1 catch year when steve smith must have missed the whole season, then bess has 209 catches for his first 3 years and smith has 152.

Now i still dont believe that bess is as good as steve smith but those sure are some interestion numbers.

Desean jacksons first 4 years: 229 receptions
devon bess first 4 years: 260 receptions

Hmmmmmm.......
Sure seems like bess is targeted similarly to a number 1 reciever (assuming that jackson and smith are number 1 recievers on thier teams)

As I've already told another poster, I don't re-read posts.

Not cool to call me a dumb ***. One of my really good friends is a dumb *** so that kind of hits home for me.

If you really want to go fisticuffs I'll be at the Orange Julius at Fashion Place Mall from 2:30-4:00 PM (Mountain Standard Time) today and I am always up for a challenge. Meet me at the mall, its going down.

Sounds good, i can get some shopping done too. I will make myself easy to find by wearing a sleeveless shirt. Just look for the tall guy with the jazz note tattooed on his arm.

Rant, rant, rant, rant, rant. Show me one place where I said how much money I win betting. In fact, I'll be the first to say that over the last 20 years, I've lost upwards of $25,000. Sad, I know. But see, I can admit realities. You can't. This has to do with one thing. How good you thought your crappy Browns would be this year. I don't think they will. Check that. I know they won't be good. But you obviously need to deflect the attention elsewhere with your ranting and going off tangent. You obviously can't face that reality. That they're in a division in which all three other teams made the playoffs last year and are far better, position by position, across the board.

If you decide you want to grow a pair, man up and bet me money. If not, shut your mouth when you're talking to me and begin preparing your predictably lameass excuses as to why they finish 5-11. I'll help you out.

1. Trent Richardson missed most of camp and he really fell behind. (rolls eyes)

LOL, I forgot the crap known as Devone Bess. My points still stands. Their weapons ****ing blow and off the top of my head are the worst in the NFL.

Awesome. Danny Amendola will be a future HOF'er then I guess. And as bad as he is, I guess Jeff Ireland and all the analysts (former players) are complete morons when they say that the Dolphins have a lot of #3-5 wideouts but no #1's and maybe even no #2's.

That's pretty funny right there.
