Game #1: Jazz vs Mavericks, 10/31/12 - 7:00 PM MST - Root Sports, 1280 AM/97.5 FM

Burks fans: which game should we look back at that shows his abilities best? I cannot remember any stellar performances. Not trolling, it is an honest question.

Burks is elite at getting to the line. He has clear areas he needs to improve such as shooting (which he showed that he may have improved in the preseason), passing, playing smart D...

Watch the highlights of the win @ lakers last season

Just got home from a 3 country trip.

About to watch the game, and kick back with a Austrian pony keg of some Märzen.

Reading through this thread I'm not too excited to watch this game. Doesn't seem like there was too many highlight plays.

I had as much fun watching the 2nd half as I did watching many games last season. The Jazz are a legit 3 point threat this year. Both Williams' and Foye can light it up back there. It's almost too much to fathom.

The game threads on RealGM and what not are freaking out about the refs. Dallas fans got pretty butt hurt.

Cuban looked like he was about to have an aneurism from the stands the way he was screaming about the refs.

Dallas fans are a bunch of whiny bitches in the first place so it's no shock they'd moan about the refs. They hardly mention that Dallas was absolutely destroyed on the boards. Especially the offensive glass. Damn the Jazz whipped them there.

Burks was huge in saving the game at the Kings last year too.

Screw Jamaal... just kidding.. but I don't see why we can't run Foye at PG and Burks backup SG. Would it be a drop off? I think not

You do realize there are only so many available minutes in a game? Not every player the Jazz have can play all the time. They should trade a 2nd year player with huge upside just because he didn't get in one game though. Smart move.

Haha, I'm not freaking out or anything. All I'm saying is this better not continue, or Burks will demand a trade.
Favors already looks like he's getting down on himself for lack of minutes.
I just hope Kanter can continue to keep his energy up for the lack of minutes I thought he received as well.
Millsap had a horrible shooting percentage for the game, and deserved less minutes for the situation.

Millsap saved our *** last night with his rebounding when we couldn't hit anything earlier.

I like depth and all blah blah Favors and Kanter need 2nd and 3rd big minutes not 3rd and 4th, at this point I don't care who is traded to make that happen

I think the Jazz are more concerned about the present than the future. We have Burks for another 2 years after this one is finished, we have a lot of time. I don't think the Jazz are in a huge rush to do anything with Burks at this point.

Burks needs to adopt Carroll's attitude when he is in the game though. That will help him get minutes.

Well time might be on the Jazz side now but players don't forget how they are treated. The kid will go where there is an opportunity to play. The Jazz have handle this situation poorly. Last year Corbin is saying he has to find time for Burks and then they clear two spots essentially by getting rid of CJ and Howard. Which was great because it open time for Hayward at SF and Burks to be the SG. Burks worked hard and performed pretty well in summer league. I am sure he is thinking that playing time is available but....

The Jazz then bring in Foye and Marvin Williams ( I was fine with the Williams trade but renting Foye for a year is stupid because it is coming at the expense of Burks getting playing time. It only makes the matter worse when Burks completely outplayed Foye in training camp. Didn't Corbin say that playing time was open and there would be competition for playing time. Now you wonder why washed up vets love coming to Utah, they know they will get playing time because words out that Utah loves washed up vets.

millsap had a horrible shooting percentage but atleast he was rebounding like a mad man, hustling and playing defense.
that crap called crapperson played no defense until a stretch in the 3rd.
a horrible shooting percentage is the better option if the other potion is no defense

Foye was playing hard D and looked very good catching and shooting. This guy was a big part of the win.

Both Williams' look to be perfect fits for what Corbin is doing. These guys make the Jazz a lot better.

Al played his best team D in a long long time if not ever in the 3rd quarter, including that unlikely steal/break. I missed most of the first half but it sure looks like he kept the boat afloat with his work on the glass while the team got worked in the first half.

Kanter/Favors looked confident but combined for 7 turnovers in 32 minutes. Both of these guys will improve over this year passing and making moves without traveling or fouling. Really liked seeing some fire from Favors, used to it from Enes already. For the record count me as the latest person to chime in on how much Eddy Curry sucks. Kanter was laughing at him.

Burks was listed as a pg on ESPN's box score. He or Foye need to play at that spot, or somebody else must be traded for. I like Tinsley insofar as what he is, a vet who will run the offense, but as the players become more natural within it a pure point will become less mandatory and a shooter more so.

Just to note my pet prospect JV logged a double double with zero turnovers in 23 minutes his first NBA game. Nice start.

Ya pretty good game by JV however he also took the most shots on the team (6-15) in only 23 minutes

You abviously dont watch jazz games.... See the lakers game (in L.A.) last year when he dominated the 4th quarter (12 pts) because he finally got minutes after cj sucked through the first half of the game. Finished with 17 points.

Summer league he had a game where he ended up with like 30 pts, 7 assists, 7 rebounds in like 29 minutes

basically every moment that he got playing time in the pre-season he was very good.

Basically anytime he gets minutes, you will see his talent..... or if you get a little smarter you could go to you tube and type in alec burks rookie highlights to see his skills.

Hell even last night he played 2 minutes and had an assist and got to the free throw line (even though he missed them)

To everyone who is complaining about jazzfanz complaining about the distribution of minutes last night: I was VERY happy with the game and it was a great win, but i can be happy about the overall game and the win and still be unhappy about certain aspects of it.... Amazing i know but its true.

Oh and i noticed that Haywards minutes were pretty low last night as well (in comparison of the other starters).
Maybe corbin will soon promote foye to starter and drop haywards minutes down below 20 per game so that way none of the 4 players that jazz fans like best will play very much.

Oh and just one more comment for the zmans and franklins (burks haters) on this site: Notice that yesterday a thread was started titled free alec burks... its already at 10 pages long.
ALOT of jazzfanz want him to play more so obviously there is something that you guys just happen to be missing.

There is a reason so many of us want to see him on the court. He is the ONLY player on the team with his type of skills.

Many times in the game last night i would see hayward miss on an ally oop dunk or fail to finish at the rim and i would think that if that was burks then he would have finished.... also i would see foye shoot a floater in the lane and think the same thing.... Or demarre fail to finish at the rim and think the same thing.

And Foye did end up with a decent stat line due to the fact that he his 2 3's in about 1 minute of time during the 4th quarter when we were up by about 15. 90 percent of the game he was chucking (and missing), and turning the ball over. 10% percent of the game he looked pretty good.

You forgot to mention Al's rebounds;) Your welcome

Not a Burks hater, just not ready to elect him to he HOF yet. I do watch the games and I did not notice this kid who is = Dwayne Wade and > James Harden. He looks okay, might turn out okay, but nothing points to all star status yet. And I would like to see him get minutes and see what he really has. I would love it if he turned into an all star, I just think a lot of folks here are seeing what they want to see and not what is real.
