OK, we've had threads before about least favorite posters. Let's see if this one is censored by the current group of "book burners."

Simple question...pretend the mods are elected officials and you could start a recall campaign to remove one from office. Who would it be?

Just to be fair, you can even say "no one." And, BTW, I allowed you to pick more than one selection.

OOPS, screwed the poll creation up (can I use that word or is it profanity?). Poll results would be public.
No one respond. I don't want to suibject anyone to undue harassment by the PTB's.

Best set of mods in my Jazzfanz history (I've met 4 of the 6, even). I haven't received a warning in ages (since the GVC rule came into effect methinks). However, based on her liberal, and frequently nonsensical, use of rep, I'm going to go out on a limb and pick moe (I expect neg rep from moe...although she might give it to someone else for reasons only a lithium crazed mid-westerner could possibly understand).

I can't wait to step back into my mod pants.

Wait, your panties are in a wad about the mods because they're enforcing the profanity filter?

No, it's not just that, although I have to admit I'm still puzzled why some people can throw terms around like asshat or mother #$%^@$ and get away with it, but when you say "that's ******** (BS)" you get an infraction. My latest problem was getting a warning for posting something "inappropriate" yet my post and pic was not censored in the least bit (until I mentioned it should be taken down or actually censored if it was, indeed, offensive). And, when I asked for a reason for getting spanked, I was simply told. "you're clever...figure it out."

Profanity filter is only there to censor words that are deemed inappropriate by those who own the site. Typing normally will never get you an infraction. It's typing outside the realm of normal posting with the sole and only purpose of bypassing that filter that gets you ding. Using symbols like $, @, or ! to replace letters, or purposefully misspelling filtered words accomplishes that.

If you want a site that censors nothing and talks Jazz basketball, be my guest. I may even join your forum.

dare I wade into these treacherous waters without a pair of hip boots?

at any rate, in response to some of these concerns, at least in part

There are six mods (7 including Jason) and it takes three votes to reach a decision when a post is reported. Each mod has varying degrees of tolerance for the various issues that get reported - such as profanity (or bypassing the filter), sexual innuendo, vulgar images, sexually suggestive images, etc etc etc. Generally, the mods have a choice to vote to ignore the post, warn the poster, or issue an infraction - and the first of these options to get three votes is the option that is taken for that particular post. So if your post is reported for sexual innuendo (for example) whether or not it's ignored or either a warning or infraction is issued depends in part on which mods happen to see the report first.
Overall, it's a reasonable system, and things even out in the end.
Hope this helps.

oh, and GVC, how's that limb holding up? I hope it doesn't get too crowded out there, LOL.

(and I didn't give you negative rep btw, but maybe everyone else did????)
j/k

What is it dat you just caint tolerates da most, eh, Mo?

I don't hate individual mods on this site, they are just trying to do their job. I just hate some of the rules, which i couldn't imagine seeing on some of the other forums i visit.

Imma hafta goez wit da ones who done voted to gimme warnins and infractions, ya know?

Alla they sorry asses, udda werdz.

The truth about the "book-burning" mod tactics.

Number of posters that have been banned since the reboot: 1
Number of posters that have been suspended since the reboot: 0

The only person that was banned was memo_for_president, and that was because he kept posting trap threads (i.e. thread titled "Williams arrested" with a link to a story about another person named Williams) in the Jazz forum when he was repeatedly told not to.

The other instances of banning usernames have been under the duplicate accounts rule, so those posters are still active on the forum. In sum, exactly one person has had their ability to post disrupted in any real way.

True story: there have been more posts by a factor of 5 complaining about moderation actions taken by a single poster (hopper) than total moderation actions taken.

Naw, FALSE story, as usual, eh, Kicky? I challenge you to prove that, because it can't be true. Hint: My (many) attempts to straighten out your continuing misleading and false representations are "complaining about moderation actions taken" only in the sense that you are a moderator and you took the objectionable action. If you make a false claim about law, or whatever, and I try to correct it, you're no doubt counting that as complaining about "moderation" actions.

Count this one too. It's just one more false statement I took the time to correct ["complain about," in your (false) characterizion].

I call B.S. (whoa, maybe I'll get another infraction for using such strong language).

What about Jesus Christ (the poster, not the religious leader/prophet/savior). Wasn't he/she (the poster) banned?

And as for the "trap threads"...are you kidding me? You banned someone for that? Do the mods have absolutely ZERO sense of humor. SO a poster gets banned for "trap threads" and no one is warned for the ridiculous "Better Than Gaines" threads that kept going and going, often with references to ridiculous players and non-players? Better round up anyone that has posted anything even REMOTELY funny over the past month, when there has been little Jazz news.

And I guess I also need to submit my humble apology for posting the video of Jaleel White playing PG in Family Matters. It was a "trap thread." If you want my Head on a Schtick, then so be it. Oops, there's another attempt at humor guaranteed to sail right over your tiny brains encased in those ego-inflated noggins.

Free to come back under a different username and was told as much. Memo_for_president is the only poster that is presently not invited back that was an actual user and not a spam-bot or advertiser of some sort.

And as for the "trap threads"...are you kidding me? You banned someone for that?

After giving them a bazillion warnings between the last board and this board: yes. Especially when it constituted well over half of all their posts on the new board. The user in question also created new accounts just to create these threads.

Do the mods have absolutely ZERO sense of humor.

Frankly, if you think those are funny I believe it is you with ZERO sense of humor.

SO a poster gets banned for "trap threads" and no one is warned for the ridiculous "Better Than Gaines" threads that kept going and going, often with references to ridiculous players and non-players?

That ran its course in a couple of days, as opposed to the behavior of memo_for_president, which was occurring over the course of several months with no signs of abating. You probably never saw those threads because we were pulling them down fairly quickly. We also started merging groups of "Better than Gaines" threads together after awhile, just like we have merged other threads together with the same premise or topic.

Better round up anyone that has posted anything even REMOTELY funny over the past month, when there has been little Jazz news.

If you do not feel that you can be funny within the rules, you are cordially invited to post elsewhere.

Also, let's be serious here. You've received an infraction for circumventing the profanity filter, which has been a near-automatic infraction for years and predating almost every moderator currently on staff (I believe Jason and colton are the only exceptions, and it's their decision to have the filter and to monitor the contents of the filter).

The other thing that got you a warning (i.e. something with zero penalty, that's merely a reminder of the rules) and prompted this tirade was you posting a thread entirely devoted to a picture highlighting the outline of someone's genitals. If you've really been around for as long as you claim, I cannot believe you would be surprised by that. Especially since you personally reported a post for sexual innuendo today.

You're hardly a real victim or a martyr. Take some responsibility for your own actions and move on.
