Game #39 Jazz at Pistons 5:30 Mtn.

Corbin just cannot, for the live of him, stick with what works. It is unbelievable how stupid he is. Forget about what happens in this game, I'm blown away at how the management could let such a dumbass be our head coach.

spot on post. burks was rolling with foye before atl. he finally went to it, and it worked. so he goes away from it in atl, and it falls apart.
he tried to go away from it tonight, and almost paid the price.

we are screwed going forward with this clown of a coach. he just cant stick with whats obivously better.

Tonight is the most pissed off at corbin that i have been in any game.

Burks is having his best game of the season so far. Burks, favors, foye, hayward, and millsap get the jazz a double digit lead with only a few minutes left. Burks makes one mistake and he and favors get removed for watson and jeffy.
Pistons get to within 2 pts in the blink of an eye, with watson missing shots and bynum scoring time after time on watson.

So lucky to win this game, but corbin is SO STUPID tonight by changing the lineup that was playing the best

He brought in a ball handler and a guy who was playing well (not to mention free throw shooter) when Detroit went all out press.

Why are you guys watching a road Jazz game when there's great football on TV?

My dvr is amazing and allows me to watch the football games and jazz game both!

Seriously, Burks was probably out there for a long time, but with 90 seconds left just let the group that built the lead finish the damn game!!!

On offense, we basically won that game on post Iso's. We can win that way, but not very often. Some nice interior passing between Al and Sap put a little shine on the turd, but it's ridiculous how many possessions we have that don't even sniff a shot for 18 seconds.

We never get easy shots on O. We look best when guys like Burks, or even Foye, just create a shot on the perimeter (not that I'm advocating for Foye.) We run almost no PnR, we never cut, and 80% of our sets look like this: (Very labored) pass into the post -- double -- pass out to the high 2/3 on the perimeter -- said 2/3 has nothing to do with the ball because we're not running anything off the ball.

LOL I told my son that Corbin was trying to throw the game by putting Watson in with 2 minutes left ... and he damn near did. 2 ****ing minutes.

Did you see how well it worked?

Jazz were up by double digits, and then corbin made subs. Next thing ya know jazz are up 2.

Explain to me what watson did well there at the end

I really didn't get a chance to watch tonight or last nights game. Why in God's green earth has Kanter only played 7 and 8 minutes. What the hell?

This is Ty's idea of "adapting": In recent weeks, the inevitable double in the post was countered with Tinsley/Watson as the outlet. Tonight we saw Hayward taking those passes. While Hayward is a better shooter, he's not threat to drive, and thus there's only a marginal advantage to it. What Ty can't figure out is that the pass out to the perimeter should be the first domino. There should be a whole plan to take advantage of the double. We don't have that, so the guy doubling just rotates back out to his man and we get nothing.

As Matt Harpring astutely pointed out, "Do we even run a ****ing offense?"

Well, there's no team below us in the standings that shouldn't be below us in the standings. The Jazz can make the playoffs if they really want to. The team is playing better, despite the stupid set back in Atlanta yesterday.

I understand Al for the free throws, but they won't start fouling until 30 seconds left or so and there was ZERO reason to bring Watson back in. Still neither should've came back at that moment as our defense went to **** immediately.

I understand the ball handler a little, but that can kill a players confidence if you take him out for one mistake even when he's having a great game. What I don't understand is Favors coming out. When Al was doing well, Knight was in as PG and not getting the dribble penetration that Bynum was. Burks actually did a better job on Bynum than Watson did, I might add. Bynum starts tearing us a new one the second both of those guys came in. Corbin is craven and simply falls back to the vets when he feels the pressure. As a contrast example, Rick Carlisle kept a very weird line-up in during the final game of the NBA Playoffs that was a good matchup that he hadn't played a ton throughout the series (it was something like Barea, Terry and no Dirk). He kept them in way longer than I would have imagined, and they went on a huge run. This was in the biggest game of his life and was not afraid to go with what was working. Corbin is cowardly for the most part, and that is one of the major reasons we lose.
