OFFICIAL: Trade Deadline Thread

Check this one out. It's a modified version of the earlier Boston/Clips deal.

Here's a 4-team version, assuming the Celtics like Josh Smith more than Al Jefferson...

Jazz out: Al Jefferson, Raja Bell
Jazz in: Eric Bledsoe, Chauncey Billups, Caron Butler, ATL's 2013 1st-rd pick from Houston

Hawks out: Josh Smith, 2013 1st-rd pick from Houston
Hawks in: Al Jefferson, 2nd -round pick from Boston

Celtics out: Paul Pierce, 2nd-round pick
Celtics in: Josh Smith, Raja Bell

Clips out: Eric Bledsoe, Caron Butler, Chauncey Billups
Clips in: Paul Pierce

Did you think any of this through?

Bledsoe as our PGOTF and Hawes as our 3rd big for Al, Millsap and one of our picks this year that goes to Philly. Clips get Millsap and Turner and get rid of Odom and Billups.

Horrible the sixers give up hawes and turner for Al who can walk at the end of the year...

Give me one good reason the sixers wouldn't just hand up the phone the second they hear this trade??

Clippers are a title contender. They aren't giving up that much for Pierce.

Wilbon mentioned that Knicks should trade with the jazz during the halftime show. Simmons mentioned Millsap

I feel too lazy to try to cook something up in the trade machine

That's interesting. I like some of the Knicks pieces like Shumpert, Novak but don't see how they help us going forward. I also don't really see anyone on the Jazz that the Knicks would be interested in outside of our young core 4. I don't think they'd want Millsap, they have Stoudamire and play Anthony a lot of minutes at the 4. I don't think I've seen a Jazz/Knicks proposal anywhere on the internet, would be interested to see if someone could put together a reasonable deal.

Give me one good reason the sixers wouldn't just hand up the phone the second they hear this trade??

1. They are ready to give up on Turner and are looking to trade him, based on the latest reports.
2. They get instant help from Al.
3. They get to test a line-up with Holiday-Al-Bynum and can then decide if it is something they want to pursue.
4. They get a first round pick.

Turner was a #2 pick and has put up good numbers this year. They maybe looking to trade him but not for a player who can walk at the end of the year!!

Turner started off decent this year, but his numbers for the season are nothing to be very excited about. As for him being a former 2nd round pick, that really does not matter at all except for in people`s heads.

Philly wont trade for an expiring player you say? Does Bynum ring a bell?

Here is what I believe a realistic trade, that would benefit both teams:

https://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=abepkvc

Washington out: Okafur, Wall
Washington in: Jefferson, Burks, Watson, GS pick

Utah out: Jefferson, Burks, Watson
Utah in: Wall, Okafur

One, Utah is in the unique position that they can take on bad salary for talent for two reasons: 1 - they aren't signing a max player this summer and 2 - their best players are still on rookie deals for a couple more seasons.

This gives Utah a player to start alongside Favors, makes Milsap expendable (either walk or trade), let's Kanter get more PT without relying on him too much, and most importantly, gives Utah their young pg and potential superstar. Could you imagine Wall and Favors with Hayward on the wings? That is a deadly core group, and that doesn't include Kanter.

Washington does this because they get a lot of salary cleared off their books. They get Alec Burks, a promising young player that can play the pg position. They also get a draft pick from Utah. They can give Al a trial run and then at the end of the year they can put their top draft pick on a pg or another big guy depending on how they like Al. If they like Al, they have All-Star level Center, Power Forward, a very promising SG, and very promising backup SG/PG (Burks) and if they draft a PG with a top 3 pick they look very, very good going forward. Al is still very young and would potentially be an All-Star in the East.

Washington isn't trading Wall for Burks and (maybe)Jefferson and a late 1st just to clear one year of Okafor.

It all comes down to if they see a pg in the draft they would like.

They would have a monster front court in Al and Nene.

They would have a very good sg.

They would have a good backup pg/sg in Burks.

They would be sacrificing Wall for a proven big guy in Al. With Al, they make the playoffs next year.

It all comes down to whether they like a pg in the draft.

They can get better value for Wall.

Like who? Who averages 17 and 10 and 2 assists and 1 block that the Wizards could get?

There is Aldridge, Portland has Lilliard.
Lee - GS has Curry
Lopez - Brook has Deron

No one else would be interested in Wall.

Now, like I said, it all depends on how they feel about Wall. They have never had more than 23 wins with Wall, and Wall has constantly been injured. If they like a young pg in the draft, then this is a great trade for Washington and a great trade for Al.

This trade puts Washington in the playoffs next year. Al and Nene and Beal would get them into the playoffs. Add in a young pg and that is a good starting five. If the Wash owners are sick of losing and want to make some noise (and getting into the playoffs would do that), then this is a good trade.

If they like Wall, and want to continue to hitch their wagon to him (23 wins, 20 wins, 9 wins due to injury) then this is a moot point.

So, I guess my question is this: Where is this better value coming from? Who can they get better than Al, Burks and a pick?
