OFFICIAL: Trade Deadline Thread

I'm guessing that now we'll see more Burks and Kanter and less Sap, Al, Foye and Marvin. Vet showcase is over.

Your sarcasm hurts.

This season and last season will be known as complete wastes. We didn't develop our younger players for the sake of being 1st round fodder twice.

I get where you are going, but I would not say a complete waste. Burks exploded the last two weeks, Hayward has been steadily improving, Favors and Kanter both show flashes and have thier off nights---AND Ty Corbin is much improved since taking over for Mr. Sloan. Maybe progress has not happened the way you or I envisioned but a step in teh right direction, no matter how small that step, is still moving forward. Jazz are slow deliberate and conservative.

I think I have figured it out that if want a fast paced team and quick trigger GM then I need to find another team. I hear the Houston Bandwagon is now accepting passengers.

Agree with all this.

Also don't forget, the front office is very accommodating to fans. Remember when we were shouting at them to draft a Big but instead they drafted Hayward? KOC later on got Jefferson & Favors & Kanter and suddenly that has become our strength.

KOC & Lindsey will go out and bring in a future PG this off season. Mark my word. They would deny it, but fans' voice is very important to them.

Dennis Lindsey says Jazz were "very" popular at trade deadline.

This should help everyone feel better.

Would have liked to see a trade, but in all reality, no move that we were rumored to make would have had any significant influence on the rest of this season, we will make the playoffs, and we will be very lucky to make the second round.

This is complete and utter ********. ********. You sit there and say that the Jazz planned to have Burks ride the pine and develop, and then were planning on playing him the middle of this season when he proved he was ready for it.

If Hayward doesn't get injured, Burks' minutes do not improve at all.

The ONLY reason Burks is playing at all has nothing to do with his talent, but the fact that injuries occurred, and the Jazz HAD to play him, because there was no one else. Then, when they did play him consistent minutes, holy COW, this kid is good.

The best thing that could happen to this team now, is Paul or Al getting hurt, ala Hayward, so our young bigs could actually get minutes to play.

I feel dirty saying that, and I hope that Al and Paul do NOT get hurt, but that would be the best thing for this team.

Its just beyond me how you dont trade either jefferson or Millsap. Why do the jazz need all this cap room? So they can try and sign a bunch of C list free agents next year? Maybe theyll land josh smith but who the hell wants him. I hate having my teams go to move be Al jefferson on the left block. Lets all pray to the based god that the jazz miss the playoffs get a good draft pick and fire corbin.

Did someone say Josh SMith?

I think Al & Paul served as a very good transitional pieces for Kanter & Favors.

Guys get injured. That's already factored into their plan this year. Burks getting time is not an accident, it's based on probability.

You ask for two reasons:

1) you show you aren't the team's lackey.

2) sometimes a GM answers the question.

The local hacks, especially 1280, don't have the guts to even ask.

If you plan to ask that, they don't come on the show. What would you rather have? Some info? Or none at all?

You can't do better than that really...

Utah Jazz ‏@utahjazz
When talking about developing players, Dennis Lindsey mentions learning from how Popovich developed & played Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili.

Andrew Perna @Andrew_Perna By my calculations, today we saw 19 players, the rights to one and four second-round picks and a trade exceptions traded/used. #NBA

several of those trades were cap clearing. New CBA is doing something. If it benifits the Jazz is yet to be determined. I wonder if this summers FA crop is going to have a rude awakening.

Dennis Lindsey said getting Gordon Hayward back was trade-deadline acquisition for the Jazz. "Early returns on that were good."

Not to mention the impending trade-deadline acquisition of Mo Williams for Alec Burks.

Teams probably wanted to take advantage of the Jazz to stick them with unwanted contracts and scrubs, when losing Al or Sap for cap room might be more appealing.
