Official Warrior Watch: Draft Pick and Playoff Positioning

Yeah, this trade sucks for us. Jenkins and Tyler were both non contributors.
Why does it suck for us? It's really inconsequential. We're getting the W's pick this season; the trade does nothing to improve nor diminish their team. There's very little chance the W's fall out of the playoffs with their current cushion. In fact, if the choice is between getting the 15th/16th pick or the W's dropping to 14th, I take the 15th, since there's always the slimmest of chances the lottery is kind to GS and they move up into the top 3.

Because in the forthcoming years they will be able to spend more money, meaning field a better team. It doesn't really change the pick, just that the Warriors were able to avoid getting ****ed. I like to see the Warriors get ****ed.

You meant.

Over the last 10 games only 2 teams in the NBA have a better record than Utah. They are San Antonio and Miami with 9-1. OKC and the Clips are 5-5 over the last 10, GSTankers are 4-6 and Houston is 6-4. In the west playoff race Utah, Denver and Memphis are 7-3 (Same with Indy and Boston in the East).

If those trends hold up the west will end up like this.

1. San Antonio 67-15
2. Memphis 55-27
3. OKC 53-29
4. Clips 52-30
5. Denver 53-29
6. Utah 50-32
7. Houston 46-36
8. GSW 42-40

Lakers would be 42-40 as well...not sure who has the tie breaker between them and GSTankers. No I do not think all the trends will continue as they currently are. Just fun to look at.

It would also make it harder for the Jazz (or any team) to pry Jarrett Jack away from the Warriors since they'll probably be willing to go into the tax to keep him.

Jarrett Jack and Carl Landry play key roles on the W's.

Without them on the W's this year, we would be looking at an early lottery pick and hoping for the best.

Jazz are going to need to sign up to 7 journeyman type players. Including back-up pgs.

If the Jazz can improve their bench while hurting a rival I'm all for it.

I like both Jack and Landry for the Jazz. Don't know if they are Jazzmen, but I like what they bring on the court.

Updated teh stuff

Until I read this post ^^^^, I didn't realize Cy was updating the first post. Lots of good stuff there. Thank you Cy.

Looking at standings & schedule, Jazz are going to play a very important game against GS in April. I still think LAL find a way into the playoffs. That means GS, Utah or Houston is out.

I would find the first post a lot more interesting if it mentioned why I should care what the Warrior's record is.

The Warriors owe the Jazz a first round draft pick. It's top-7 protected this year and will be top-6 protected next year if the Jazz don't get it this year.

EDIT: It just struck me that you could very well have known that but were just suggesting it be included in the op.

Tomorrow begins the Warriors last tough stretch to the season. They play Spurs at home, then go on a 5 game road trip that includes two back-to-backs.

Spurs (Loss)
T'Wolves (Win)
Pacers (Loss)
Knicks (Loss)
Celtics (Loss)
Sixers (Win)

So I have them going 2-4, which would put them at 27 losses.

I have them going 13-19 and finishing with 42 wins and 40 loses. They will probably be an 8th seed

The Warriors expect their 16th consecutive sellout tonight, and they're already making plans for the next homestand. oss.ticketmaster.com/html/group_cor…

Thats a difference between Utah and Warriors. They are basically tied with Utah for 6th place, they have cap hell and no pick this year and they are selling out the areana 16 times in a row.

Utah Jazz are tied for 6th place, have cap room, Two 1st round picks, 4 young exciting players, a guy who is about to break the franchise mark for 3pt fgs in a season and a center who shoots 56% in clutch situations and the announced crowd is never a sellout and there are 4-6 thousand fans wearing green plastic every night. Jazz managment has a tough job.
