I absolutely love sundiata gaines because of a game last season on Jan 17 at Home playing in one of his first games as a pro. That is exactly it tho. That was one game and while I loved his last second heroic win last year it was one game. All though I do feel it was one of the Greatest and most exciting wins in the history of the utah jazz franchise I do feel watson is a better all around player and will help our team further themselves to championship elite status better than yata will.

... I just wasted 40 seconds of my life reading this

Do me a favor - next time put "Jbradshaw" in front of your topic - so that I can ignore it.

*sigh*

There sure are a lot of douche bags on this site, the guy is excited about the season, at least he is trying to make a new subject while we're waiting a few weeks for pre season

It's not a new subject.

Great input guys. I really like what all of you had to say on the topic. Very enlightening, d-bags.

Here's my take: Gaines had one great shot last year. That's it. I'm still to be impressed by what he can do on the court. He may be able to develop into a great 3rd string behind Deron, but I'm just not comfortable when he is on the floor. At this point I would be okay with letting another person take the role and see what happens.

As the big tattoo on Matt Barnes back says, "FTH" and F Matt Barnes. You guys have a lot of growing up to do. Ridiculous! Ridiculous.

From what I've read, it looks like Sundiata Gaines really didn't show anything in the summer league towards improving his game. That's not encouraging.
Watson actually started for Indiana a lot last year and put up some decent numbers, except for his 3-PT shooting. IMO, he'd beat out Price or Gaines as our b/u PG.
No idea why so many here dislike him; 5/2 assist/turnover, ratio and 1.3 steals a game. I've even read the Jazz tried to sign him a few years ago, but he went elsewhere. Stats from ESPN:
............. G......MIN.. FGM-A.......FG% 3PM-A....... 3P%. FTM-A....... FT%. OFF.. DEF..TOT... STL...BLK.. TO.... PF..... AST...PTS
Season.. 79.... 29.4..223-524.... .426..53-184..... .288 120-169.... .710. 0.7... 2.4... 3.0... 1.32. .20... 2.22. 2.29. 5.1... 7.8

If we could get him for the vet's minimum I would certainly be for it. Then Price could be moved in a luxury tax savings deal that will probably happen sometime during the season.

To Jbradshaw's defence the other Watson thread wasn't on the 1st page.

Watson is average. Don't hate him like Hart, but he offers nothing special other than his experience.
Gaines looked bad in summer league, but he's fine for a back up. Talent wise there is NOT a huge difference between the two.
Both are average back ups. Either one will do, and neither is Hart or Milt. We win.

Dude, come on. You're comparing a FRINGE scrub to a proven NBA player. The two are not comparable. The only thing that would be comparable would be their playing time if they were both on the team.

If you end up being right, it's because Watson will have gotten a lot worse and Gaines a lot better.

Wow, didn't think we would end up with him. He is a good signing IMO. Just as long as he doesn't turn out like Hart or Knight.
