What's new

Stan Van Gundy will be a guest on 1280 The Zone in 5 mins

Changed your thought a little bit. I think this is equally important to experience. Sadly Corbin now has experience, but he will never have charisma.

It has been reported the players have always liked Corbin.

Who reported they liked him and who was quoted saying they liked him?

It's not just one quote. I remember in the Sloan era it was always reported that Corbin was kind of the player's go to guy to talk to about stuff.

You guys are funny. I've been a regular listener for a long time. Trust me, SVG is a regular interview, he is on every couple Weeks. Nothing to see in this situation. At all.

You are thinking of Jeff Van Gundy my friend.

LA was stupid to want him. He was horrible in NYC, and overrated in Phoenix.
The talk on Lakers forums was basically more people wanted him over Sloan.
I wonder how they feel now.

definitely a horrible pairing between coaching style and personnel.

Yes, I have heard such. He seems like a really nice guy, I wish he was my neighbor. I'd like to go fishing with him.

He still doesn't have charisma. Neither do I. Not a bad thing, but the Jazz coach has traditionally been a focal point of the team and a vocal leader. Somebody on or around this team has got to show some sort of charisma or spark that draws peoples attention. None of the players have shown much charisma, KOC is like a grumpy old proffessor that doesn't want to be bothered. Randy Rigby doesn't have it, Greg doesn't, Lindsey is straight faced and straight laced. Locke is smart but he annoys too many people. Bolerjack and Harpring, maybe? Maybe not. So I wish that the Head Coach had it.

IMO there is a huge void of charm surrounding this team, and that is a bigger problem than the team's record, pace of play, players style or anything else.

Why does charisma matter? What successful coaches are just overflowing with charisma?

Ummm, let see:
Watson, Foye, Marvin Williams, Jefferson and Millsap.

Watch your backs, gentlemen. One false move and Ty has the power to afflict you with a mysterious injury...just ask his former pet, Jamaal.

Read the post. I explained why I thought it was important for the Jazz to hire a coach with it.
