I don't have much opinion on what kind of coach he is .. x's and o's.. but I do know that most everybody likes and respects him. He's thought of as a cool dude. Sometimes that's bad, but in this case I think it's good.
He was also a PG, mainly, and could stroke it.. maybe he'd rub off.
So basically he is in the exact same position as Corbin?
Both former players under legendary coaches,
Went on to be assistant apprentices to said legendary coach
Both coaches were assistant in very specific and handcrafted systems
Both seen as a "player's coach" to the more hard-lined head coaches they coached under.
Difference is that Utah actually had faith in their apprentice and gave him the job. They will see that commitment all the way through until next season before making a decision. The Lakers should have done the same thing, instead they went to Mike Brown, who failed, then D'Antoni, who is underachieving.
