Game 68: Jazz at Rockets

I'm starting to think Corbin and Jefferson have some sort of under the table deal where he gives him a few million from his next contract. You don't play a guy 24 minutes straight who is allowing free layups to anyone entering the lane.

Big T: " You've got to give Gordon credit. He is playing consistently. He just needs a little bit more help from guys off the bench."

What about the starters Big T? LOL

I'm pouring over the box score, as I only really saw the last 16 minutes of the game.

The problem wasn't turnovers, blocks, steals, assists, shooting percentages, or possessions. Those stats are even. The difference was primarily due to Houston's guards getting into the lane and getting to the free-through line. When we went to a line-up with Burks and Hayward late in the game, we basically matched their guard play with offense of our own. However, the starting unit with Mo Williams and Randy Foye, backed by Millsap and Al Jeffs, is the perfect cocktail for guys like Harden and Lin to turn the corner on the pick-and-roll and dive-bomb to the rim. That's your ballgame.

Their guards broke us and their bigs got rebounds when our bigs tried to help.

Hayward should have been doing that all game. Sadly our team has really resorted to jump shooting way too much. We are at our best when we are attacking in the fast break and moving the ball around, then occasionally hitting Al when he gets 1 on 1 deep post position. I'm getting sick of the ball getting swung to a wing, then that wing holding it for 8 seconds while they wait for Sap or Jefferson to get position 13' away from the basket.

Having a PG who can attack and get into the lane is going to be a huge improvement for the Jazz. That has to be the #1 priority.

I would say the biggest problem was us taking too many jumpers and just overall giving up early. There were really only two quarters of true basketball played, the 1st and 4th. The Rockets blew the game wide open early in the 2nd then both teams coasted at pretty much a standstill until Hayward awoke in the 4th quarter.

Then the (lack of) interior help defense really killed us from getting stops, not to mention some unfortunate foul calls (Marvin fouling Harden on the 3 (he kicked his legs out) and Burks getting called for a foul because he breathed on Harden).

Our offense needs to run through Hayward

We came back, becausse Houston players were joking around with delirious passes to Asik. Jazz played 4 on 5 the last 12 minutes, but was able to get back into the game. That shows how good Burks, Gordon and Favors are. Enes ? I would speak with my manger and would try to force a trade in the offseason, IF i was him.
