Following potential 2013 draftees

Insider Article on ESPN claims that Goodwin, WCS and AP will be back next year giving KY potentially 9 1st round picks next year. Wow.

With all the talent going into next year's draft a lot of people who think they are 1st round talent will be disappointed.

Seems like a pretty bad decision for all three of them. Unless all SIGNIFICANTLY improve, they will be drafted lower.

I've often wondered about Tubby in the NBA. EXCELLENT x's and o's coach.. horrible recruiter.

I would give him a look. (didn't read the article, sorry)

I know him personally, very well.. and he would be a great ambassador for the program.. but I'm not sure he's got the fire anymore.

Could the man who denied us a National Championship be He who brings us to the promised land?

So a reportedly thin draft gets thinner and the Jazz have two picks? Fantastic.

Can an NBA team just 'pass' on its pick? I mean if the Thunder sitting at 28 don't want to committ 2 years of gauranteed money to a player can they just not pick anyone?

FWIW, I get both sides of the debate. I tend to get on my high horse sometimes (though I hide it REALLY well) because I have been following HS bb players for 20+ years, am very connected to the scouts, college coaches, etc .. and hear all the real assessments rather than what is spun to the media.. and in turn, spun to listeners.

Because I have watched most of these kids play for years prior to them even being first mentioned in any draft context, I certainly have fairly strong opinions. I have been right about players FAR more than wrong.. but have certainly enjoyed my share of misses.

I have been hyping next year's class for 3 years now. As far as this coming draft class.. I'm not just saying there's no superstar at the top, I am saying it is generally very weak, top to bottom. I have also said it will turn out it's share of good players.. but it is less predictable than most.. the winners of this draft will have a higher element of luck on their side, imo.

Of course I can be wrong, way wrong, but I am saying, emphatically, this is more than a hunch.

I was thinking about this yesterday and just going down the list. From #1-#10, yes this draft is BAD. But between #11 - #20 I think this draft is quite decent - particularly if WCS, Archie and Alex decides to declare. Potential in that range draftees include:

Burke
MCW
McCollum
Austin
Olynyk
Robinson III
WCS
Archie
Alex
McAdoo
Saric

May be I'm being optimistic, but if I'm picking in the teens, I think there is enough talent there for me to work with. I dunno, what do you guys think?

^^^

BTW my x2 picks in the teens would be Burke & Robinson III. It's not earth shattering, but I think there's enough talent there for me to be happy.

turrible move for WCS in particular

I agree with this.. except he will play substantial minutes (a ton) on the most talented team in the history of cbb. He could move up to 5/6, possibly. He's rumored to be in the 12/13 right now.. but there is some risk of barely missing the lottery.

and a few of these will be good, I'm sure.. it's still a way weak draft, imo.

This draft is going to be AWESOME. It is deep and laden with future all-stars!!!!

Oops, sorry, wrong thread.
