Following potential 2013 draftees

If Mchigan wins the title I could see Burke going anywhere from 3 - 7.

May be.. but if I remember correctly everyone was high on Walker when he won the title for UConn. Some people were saying Utah was looking at taking Walker with their 3rd pick even? Then when the combine/individual workouts roll around, it was clear that he was going to be an undersized PG in the NBA and he did slide.

Assuming both Burke and MCW go top 10 - 12....

First pick: Pelle/WCS/Olynyk/McCollum/Poythress

Second pick: Giannis/Bongo/GR3/Saric/BJ Young/Wolters

Third pick: some stellar player at any position who has a 2-way game

I could see making a run at Brandon Jennings in free agency.

'Some people' (?)

I had Walker around 10.. but I'm not talking about how posters will value you him.. I'm saying that's where I think he'd go. Also, Walker's stock rose substantially the 2nd half of the season.. vs. Burke has been considered no lower than mid-first all season.

Guys.. I'm not sure if KOC is smiling at this rise in Burke. Why? I have a feeling he had his eyes set on MCW all along. Why? Think about this - his reasons for drafting Hayward, Kanter, and Burks were roughly:

Hayward - "He's a winner", "He's long for his position", "A wing rebounder that Coach always loves", "Give him 2 years - and come back and re-evaluate this pick - 2 years".

Kanter - BPA

Burks - BPA, "He's long for his position", "With the NBA rules the way it is today, guys that can take it off the dribble and finish/draw a foul is invaluable"

So if given the choice between Burke & MCW - yeah we'd all think KOC will pick Burke. Burke is much more of a "finished product". He's able to step into the NBA straight away and contribute.

But I'm not so sure. He has surprised all of us before when he picked Hayward & Burks - the fans certainly didn't expect those picks from him. At times he seems to be very patient and say things like "give him 2 years" when picking Hayward.

- MCW is long for his position - much better rebounder than Burke.
- He can take it off the dribble and finish in the lane - has shown that in the Indiana game
- A team player - with all his scoring abilities, he has always looked to pass to his teammates first
- Has GREAT potential with his physical attributes and athleticism - imagine him in 2 years
- Defensive minded PG (No. of steals) - we currently lack perimeter defensive presence
- A winner - the way he's carrying this Syracuse team in this tournament is a testament to that.

Don't MCW out yet - I think he fits what KOC looks for when drafting a player.

Not really agreeing with you Nick. KOC looks for high IQ above all else. Hayward is small for his drafted position SF, and I doubt KOC knew he would be able to handle SG duty. Burks was a BPA pick, Jimmer would have been picked if he was still on the board and is small for his position. Kanter is slightly undersized for center, was a BPA pick.

Kanter's not undersized for center, he's BIG. Hayward is 6'8 - he's tall for a SF (Robinson III is 6'6, Bazz is 6'5). Burks is 6'6 - again, he's tall for a SG.

At least you can't say they're undersize, but Burke will be.

Because I'm right? Who's he bumping? Cody Zeller? Marcus Smart (who he has outplayed this year even though he might not have as higher of a ceiling)? I'm calculating this with 'Bazz still going top-3 as well (even though he's unanimously took a tumble down the mocks). I know at 60th, 30th, or 15th, I take Burke over T-Rex honky every day.

That was a joke. I know you could be right and I'm sad about it, lol.

Hayward is a pedestrian physical specimen, and not tall and especially not long for a SF. Kanter is strong, and he's not lacking in height or length, but he is not especially tall or long for a C. Burks is ideal size for a SG and long, but hardly eye-popping with regard to size.

Burke is 6' (a shade under prototypical) with a 6' 5" wingspan (far beyond prototypical). That's plenty big enough for a player that knows how to play basketball.

McLemore hasn't helped his stock in the tournament either. I'd say he's in the fray as a top-5 pick, but he could slip a few spots. I have literally no idea how the top 5 of this draft would go. There is just a hodge podge of pretty good players. No one looks like a clear-cut #1, #2 or #3. They should just be honest and start the draft with #4 or #5.

Noel, Porter, Smart, McLemore, Bennett, Oladipo, Shabazz, Burke, Olynyk, WCS...I actually don't think Zeller is on that tier. Gobert is like the French version of Javal McGee and could go higher or lower.

Truth be told, I think Archie Goodwin, Norvel Pelle and CJ McCollum have as much potential as the above, and they're going to be seen as value picks.

Saric and Giannis could turn out to be diamonds.

And seriously, can we stop with this non-sense that Hayward is "long"? His arms are shorter than his height in shoes.

Conversely, Burke ACTUALLY IS long.

The Jazz will have options where they draft. However, if the Jazz make the playoffs, I think there is a legit chance that the Lakers draft a player we want right before we pick.
