An interview with a foreign coached who was an assistant coach with the Lakers, an exceprt where he mentions Corbin.

Who was the coach that really got your attention?

"There are many really good coaches in the NBA. It was an honor to work with Mike Brown, who is an excellent coach. I saw many good coaches and not only on the top-level teams. Some coaches don't have a big name for themselves, but did a great job organizing their team. I really liked Monty Williams of the Hornets and coach Corbin of the Jazz, who carried the Sloan legacy."

Thought it was really weird he picked Monty Williams and Corbin as the two coaches that impressed him.

Meaningless when you don't have any details to support your opinion. Just like a kid who loves crispy creme donuts, but that doesn't mean it's good for you.

Not sure how that would be meaningless. Loving doughnuts doesn't imply thinking they're good for you.

There are a lot of ill-informed journalists out there.

This guy is one of the more respected coaches in Europe from my understanding. Just thought it was funny cause I remember a thread by the Euro posters when they were talking about how much smarter European coaches are.

Corbin has made young coach mistakes but he is going to be fine. Same people that were always hatin on Sloan are now hatin on Corbin.

Zack Lowe also recently praised Corbin for his recent adjustments.

Corbin turned Burks into a semi-serviceable pro. All signs point toward excellence in the making.

That article said he made some adjustments, but I thought the main point was that they were adjustments that should have been made earlier in the season.

I thought they were saying burks was Brandon Roy?

I wonder if the hate for Corbin has blinded us all to the fact that our roster is pretty terrible, and we might even have overachieved this year.

I actually think that coach is spot on. Corbin has actually done a fabulous job with position he was put in by the front office.
Is their really any coaches in recent memory that were asked to essentially skip the rebuilding process and juggle staying competitive with good veterens on your team, and still develop a group of young guys that will make mistakes?

What is our roster?

Mo: traded to the jazz for NOTHING
Foye: signed for a very small amount likely because of his weaknesses (small, not a point guard ((yes I admit that now)) not that athletic).
Hayward: the future, but still kind of inconsistant.
Millsap: Undersized without a real position and dissapears for long strecthes
Al: Defensive liability.

Backup point: Who?
Burks: coming along, but still makes mistakes.
Marvin and Carroll: Meh.
Favors: Man, he's got great size and leaping ability and potential, which he's showing but fouling is a problem.
Kanter: Edit Strong as a Bull and showing offence potential, but raw is an understatemet.

My point is that Corbin is making a playoff push while dealing with incomplete players and injuries.

I agree with most of this, but Kanter really isn't that raw. Byiombo is raw. Kanter is skilled and began to show that. Maybe he is raw in the sense that he has not played a ton of games in his career for reasons we all know, but his offense and defense really isn't that raw. His offensive game especially is quite polished. he can shoot it, he has good foot work and he can juke you in the post

Kanter is pretty raw. I think the excitement we have for him will be justified in like 2-3 years, but people on the board are acting like he is already at his peak. He needs some development still, and has a ton of potential, but he is not the polished scorer who can shoot jump shots that everybody seems to be lauding. He will get there, but he will take some lumps in the process.
