Utah moves up to #10 in both polls

So Utah moved up to the #10 spot in both polls today. At this same point in 2008 Utah was #17. At this point in 2004 Utah was #14.

Utah should expect to move up even further if they keep winning. Iowa State had a good showing this week, beating Texas Tech 52-38. So if Utah can go out there and beat them handily, it should help out with the polls.

If Utah can keep blowing everyone out, that TCU game should be huge. It's too bad Air Force plays TCU before they play Utah. That TCU/Air Force game will probably end all hope of Air Force being ranked when Utah plays them.

Still though, TCU should be top 5 (or higher) when Utah plays them. And if Utah keeps blowing teams out, Utah should be around #6 or #7 (or higher) coming into that TCU game.

Yeah, I know, there is a lot of football to be played between now and then. But I'm not on the team so it's okay for me to look ahead on the schedule. Especially when Utah should be favored in every game up to that TCU game (including favored over Air Force- especially after TCU beats them the week before Utah plays them).

That TCU/Utah game should be the MWC equivalent of the Oregon/Stanford, Texas/Oklahoma, Alabama/Florida games this week. Too bad it will probably be on some crappy tv station that most of the nation can't even get.
 
Speaking of crappy TV stations, what in the world is Fox College Sports? I was actually thinking that the Iowa State/Utah might be worth watching, but I've never heard of that channel so I probably don't have it.

How the hell is Florida still ranked in the top 20? Why are they ranked ahead Stanford? Florida wouldn't come within 5 touchdowns of beating the Ducks if they played on the West Coast. At least Stanford kept it very competitive.
 
I've never heard of Fox College Sports either, but according to the fcs website, ( https://fcs.channelfinder.net/start.asp ) Directv carries it...

I agree that Florida has no business being ranked right now. They've been pretty crappy all year and finally got the beating they deserved.

And how does Boise have a #1 vote every week? It has to be the same person (likely some fan that happens to have a vote) voting them #1 every week. If anyone other than Alabama is getting number 1 votes at this point, it has to be Oregon. They are destroying everyone, on both sides of the ball. I think they're the best team in the nation right now.

Oregon was impressive in that stanford game. To be down 21-3 and storm back and dominate them like that was very impressive.

Even though Oregon's defense is very suspect?

Damn. I totally spaced it that unless you have DirectTv no once can watch the Utah - ISU game.

Oregon's defense was ranked like #6 in the nation (or thereabouts) before that Stanford game. It's ranked 15 right now, after that Stanford game. Stanford's offense is ranked #4 in the nation, right now, after that Oregon game (was even higher before that game).

The defensive stats are inflated due to New Mexico and Portland st.

Oregon is good but I guess I wouldn't put them number 1.

Everybody's stats are inflated due to playing those type of teams. Go down the top 25 and every single team has at least a couple of those cupcakes. Alabama, who is #1 right now, played San Jose State and Duke. Ohio State, who is #2, played Marshall, Ohio, and Eastern Michigan. Boise State has played all kinds of cupcakes too. So Oregon's stats aren't anymore inflated than anyone else's.
 
I expect a game from Iowa State, which is more than I could say for Utah last 3 opponent's so, fingers crossed, we'll see how it goes. i hate bye weeks, hope it doesn't effect our play too much.
 
Fox College Sports? I just pulled up DirecTV's channel listing and it's 617, but all shaded out like it's not active. That would just be great.

On the fox college sports website it says the channel is included in Directv's sports package, so we shouldn't have anything to worry about. It's probably just inactive until there is a game or something.
 
I don't know why people give Salty such a hard time. You guys hold on to things for way more than they're worth. I mean, yeah, Salty is a Ute fan, but come on, give the dude a break.

My post wasn't really a jab at Salty. I figured your comment needed support. I was just looking out for you.

BTW, Kudos to the kinder, gentler CONAN. ( I have a feeling that, on the inside, he's laughing his *** off.)

The funny part about that whole "clearly" thing is it makes no sense if you know the history. It was a BYU fan saying BYU was clearly better than Utah before Utah smashed them 48-24. It was later me making fun of that BYU fan saying Utah was clearly better, before BYU barely beat Utah in OT.
