What's new

2013-2014 NFL Official Thread

not sure how I feel about the Phins trading up to 3, at first I was excited but then I thought there isn't anyone besides Star that I would get excited for and they just re-signed Starks so I knew he wouldn't be an option/need.
So since I'm undecided and given Ireland's draft history I am leaning on the side of being pissed off.

Looks like Denver got its RB. Hope they pick up a good safety. They could use a CB but a bunch of those just got taken off the board.

Broncos drafted a CB. In three picks they filled 3 of the 4 positions of need that they had. Need to do some work on safety.

Steelers drafting in areas of need
Round 1 - Jones OLB Georgia - 38 sacks the past two seasons in the SEC. Like it and filled a need with Harrison gone. Grade A-

Round 2 they take L. Bell from Michigan St, with Lacey and Ball still available. Feeling they could have snagged him in the 3rd but rumors were Denver was very high on Bell. Grade C

Round 3 I LOVE the pick of Wheaton from Oregon State. Losing Wallace hurts but we now have Brown and Sanders with Wheaton in the slot. Grade A

Interesting that the Eagles of all teams picked Barkley. You usually see mobile QBs fitting into Chip Kelly's offense, but obviously he is going to have to tweak it a bit for the NFL. Nick Foles and Matt Barkley running that system? Must see TV. I might have to be a bandwagon Eagles fan this year if those guys ever climb the depth chart.

Reggie Dunn signs as a free agent with the Steelers. Has a shot to make the team as a KR/PR as they want to keep Brown healthy.

Overall I give the Steelers a solid A- on paper.

Love the trade up for the safety from Cuse.

Questionable pick for me is the WR from Oklahoma and if Landry Jones can actually be a QB in the league. We signed Growkowski as a backup so bye bye to Batch. Hopefully he coaches one day.

Our late picks are huge UPSIDE picks with the MLB from Florida State and a 3-4 DE for
Samford who's played football 3 years. Ziggy goes pick #5 but this Williams kid at 6'3" 307 Lbs is a freak and ran a sub 4.9 at his pro day and 4.94 I believe at the combine. He is just raw.

The Kruger Brother goes to Philly where he will get a good shot at making the team as well.

Dez Bryant said the honey badger is the best player in the draft. Jon Gruden said he was the best cornerback in the draft. Haters gonna hate, these highlights are sick! He is a playmaker often compared to Troy Polamalu.

I would've made that pick. Personally, I think The Raiders took the much bigger DB risk by picking D.J. Hayden at 12, considering the last time he played football he almost died and the fact that he doesn't necessarily look 12th pick worthy watching his film. They seem to fall in love with combine speed too often.

49ers filled some need picks early in S Reid, DE Tank (49ers envision him taking over for Justin Smith.) TE Vance McDonald, OLB Corey Lemonier. They would start for most teams. Other then Reid they will all be rotation players for the 49ers.

Totally shocked the 49ers got Quinton Patton WR out of Louisiana Tech in the 4th round.

The only pick that I openly cheered was the Marcus Lattimore pick. We don't need him at all this year. The 49ers can be patient and let him heal from that horrific injury he sustained. He might be the one to take over for Gore in two years loved the pick. Also 49ers sign the British olympian Lawrence Okoye 6-6 over 300 lb's and ran a 4.7 40. He's never played football ever will be a project for sure, but he's a freak of nature and if he pans out will be a total beast, will probably play on the DL.

Overall I give the 49ers a solid B+. would've given an A if we could've gotten a cb somewhere in round 3. As our db's are aging a little.

The thing is with the Honey Badger, is that you'll never be able to put him on an outside receiver. He's a nickel-back only. You put him on an outside receiver, and he will get straight up abused. The only WR he'll be able to cover is a slot receiver, and taking a nickel corner in the 3rd round is risky IMO. If Gruden truly thinks he's the best CB in the draft, then he is highly, highly mistaken. He's a good returner, but the Cardinals already got that with Peterson. I suppose he's decent value for a 3rd rounder, we'll see if he can stay out of trouble though. For some reason, I doubt he can.

He said that he is willing to take a drug test every single week and it will be in his contract.

What do you expect him to say? That he's going to be smoking every weekend and they can deal with it?

He was going to say whatever he had to so he could get drafted as early as possible. I'll believe he can stay out of trouble when I see it. Star athletes don't get kicked out of major schools like LSU for no good reason.

Tim Tebow has been released. Interesting to see if he lands a starting spot. I think the Pats could do some cool things with him.

Well for those that care besides Reggie Dunn to PIT, other undrafted FA's I have found so far are:

Ryan Lacy, CB, Utah to NO
Utah P Sean Sellwood to ATL
Utah CB Moe Lee to BAL
Utah DT Dave Kruger to CLE (maybe get to play with his bro)
Utah TE David Rolf to SD
Utah C Tevita Stevens to WAS

And sadly for my Phins, Brandon Ogletree, LB, BYU

Whatever happened to John White?

Won't make much difference if they can't protect the QB. Eagles need a complete overhaul of their OL.
