Following potential 2013 draftees

I'm looking at size, position and the kind of impact he should have in the league. He'll be a 6'9" guy who can handle, drive and shoot. Good athlete who can play either wing position. I can't think of a perfect comp for him at the moment.

Nicolas Batum. It's pretty obvious. Rail-think SF's who can pass and have versatile games.

Michael Finley is an awful one. How did you even think about that?

Batum's mostly a spot-up shooter anymore, and he never had the handle and passing that Giannis has. Giannis is more agressive and can get to the rim with straight-line drives. I'm guessing he'll put on 15 lbs. and be about 210 or 215 lbs. In terms of position and impact on the game, I see him being comparable to Finley. It's not that their games are identical, just more a reflection of their impact, role and value. You can't compare Giannis (or anyone else) to Durant.

Dude. Just let it go.

I don't think Giannis has extraordinary upside, and I don't think he has that much risk either. He just hasn't been that well known given that he's playing in Greece.

You don't think a player that's tall and long enough to play PF (or even C) that effectively plays PG and is about high school age has extraordinary upside? And you don't think there's extreme bust potential for a player of that size that effectively plays PG, except isn't a good shooter, can't/doesn't play off the ball, has a very sleight frame, might not have a defensive position, and has been playing against crap competition? I wouldn't say he's exactly a risk if available at 21, but there's a real chance that he's just not an NBA player. If he can guard on the perimeter, can a reliable spot-up 3, and/or add considerable strength then he'll be a lot easier to work into a rotation, but I don't think those are there yet.

I'm all about drafting him if he's available at 21 but again, he might not be an NBA player. I think it's worth the... well... risk to find out.

Nailed it.
