Official Jazz workouts thread

Looking at Wolter's scouting video and his NCAA tourney game against Michigan, it seems his biggest problem was dealing with secondary defenders once he got by his initial defender. Part of this is due to the fact that Wolters was the only guy on his team who could create offense, so the defense would sag off of just about everyone else and key in on Wolters.

In the Michigan game, for example, Wolters did a good job of getting by Burke (usually with the help of a screen), but then he'd have to deal with a secondary defender--either Tim Hardaway Jr. or GRIII, and they would basically cut down his lanes and shut him down. On pick-and-rolls, both Burke AND the help defender would key in on Wolters to try to force the ball out of his hands. Wolters wasn't able to handle that level of pressure usually, but I'm wondering what PG in this draft would be able to handle it. As long as Wolters has someone legit to pass to, he should be able to make a read and make the right play.

Teams like Michigan and Syracuse seemed to play at close to NBA speed.

You guys are really letting our "lack of PG" situation/desperation cloud your judgement. Those guys are a reach at those draft positions on any draft boards in the country right now, may be even in overseas ones.

Remember this well: "Desperation leads to Fear, Fear leads to Anger, Anger leads to Hate, Hate leads to Suffering...."

Yeah, well Yoda is the epitome of being undersized. Nonetheless, I don't think the players I listed are reaches. Lets see how the draft plays out.

I do think we should get a PG in this draft, because I don't think we should invest whatever 2014 pick we get on a PG. We have to go BPA. With 2 first-round picks in this draft, I think we should fill the PG need with the player that's in our tier. Then our bases will be covered and we're in good shape for 2014.

Yeah, but the FORCE is strong with him. I don't feel the same force from Wolters (go look at his Michigan game, 5min. from full time).

If we're rolling the dice for a PG, I'd rather go with Canaan. The FORCE is strong with him.

I did watch the Michigan game, live and quite a bit on tape. Wolters did well against Burke, it was Hardaway Jr. that made his life miserable. But no one else on SDSU could deal with Michigan's size and speed, so Wolters was largely on his own.

Speaking of Canaan, go watch him try to guard Wolters in the Wolters scouting report on DX. Canaan looks terrible on defense.

Schroeder, who stands 6-foot-1 but weighs only 160 pounds, is scheduled to return home Saturday after a taxing schedule of travel and workouts.

Asked how he performed in Utah, vice president of player personnel Walt Perrin said, "I thought he fought through some things. He struggled a little bit early, but he finished strong.

Larkin is looking better and better as the days go by...

I dunno.. I don't mind guys who "aren't athletic" (please read between the lines) but are fighters and I can really sense a strong FORCE from (Steve Nash, Ginobili, Dirk, Kanter, Galinario,.. Heck even Calderon had a strong FORCE).

Jimmer I can't say I felt a strong FORCE from him. Dragic had an OK FORCE, but not that strong. Lin used to have a strong FORCE but now it seems his power is fading...

Out of this year's draft guys who "aren't athletic" that I felt a strong FORCE with are:

- Saric
- Kerasev

Nate Wolters, my young padawan, the FORCE is strong with you. Those whom are on the dark side can't detect the FORCE especially with those foreigners.

Check out this basketball/draft site:

It has an interesting model for projecting NBA performance based on college numbers. The model, applied to years past, seems fairly accurate. Using his model, he predicts that 3 players in this draft have All Star potential, and those players are Noel, Porter and Carter-Williams.

It's hard for me to say this.. but there is an unwritten rule in the Universe, and it is this:

The TRUTH is that those that are "dark" generally have much better physical attributes than those that are "light". Those that are on the "dark" side DO NOT need a tremendous amount of FORCE to succeed in battles. On the other hand, those that are "light" need significantly more FORCE in order to compete on equal groundings with those that are "dark".

Coming back to Nate Wolters... because he is "light", it is my opinion that he would need twice the amount of FORCE to be able to compete with those that are "dark". Unfortunately I DO NOT sense that the FORCE is strong with him ... on this basis I don't think he should join the Jazz Federation.

As long as CJ McCollum is a Darth, and part of this federation!

I would be happy with either Glenn Rice Jr or Reggie Bullock at 21. I still think it would be a great idea to try to move back and get two high second round picks even though I think it would be hard to do.

The Jazz need to get at least a future backup PG in this draft. I can't take anymore Earl Watson/Tinsley playing significant minutes. However, I do not want them to reach for a PG just because they need one. If Gobert/Adams are the BPA then they should take one of those guys. Schroeder is not ready to start in the NBA so if people think the Jazz are going to get a starting PG out of this draft then they are going to need some luck. The only guys I see being starters out of the box might be MCW, CJ and Burke. Larkin might be ready but his size is a real issue for me. Larkin is a borderline starter right now and seems to me to be more of an energy guy off the bench.

And Payton Siva takes another huge blow.

Looks pretty accurate surprisingly.

Guys.. is this a good time to remind you who has been one of MCW's biggest supporter on the board?
