That seems like a risky proposition for a player.
What if the #14 team backs out of promise?
The player has taken a huge gamble.
You would think his agent would not agree to such a idea and insist his player continue to go to workouts.

Yet it happens. Players shut down their workouts every year.
 
I worded #16561 very poorly and for some reason I can't edit from this computer... or I would just delete it. It's more complicated than what I wrote and even a bit shady..... so nevermind, lol.

The gist here is that the Cavs at one like Noel, Porter and Len (to some degree).

Orlando likes McLemore more than Burke, which makes sense from a BPA perspective. Oladipo could also be in play. Either way, there's less a chance now that Burke ends up in Orlando.

Washington would take Porter or Noel, whichever is left on the board, with some possibility of taking Bennett.

The Bobcats, Suns and Pelicans will take BPA, and it's not clear that Burke quite qualifies. Burke is a bit similar to Kemba Walker in Charlotte, and hence the Bobcats are more likely to go with Len, Oladipo or Bennett. The Suns would be thrilled with Oladipo if he's there, and could go with Carter-Williams, Len or Bennett as well. Burke may enter the mix for NOLA, but he'd have to beat out Bennett or Len.

Overall, the top 6 players taken *should* be Noel, McLemore, Porter, Oladipo, Bennett and Len.

Sacramento at #7 likes Carter-Williams ahead of Burke apparently, but they also like Shabazz. They have been making an effort to move their PG to Isaiah Thomas, which was a rumor involving Cleveland's #29 pick. If their starting PG job opens up, look for them to take MCW (if available), or Burke or CJ, otherwise.

Detroit also apparently like Carter-Williams and Shabazz, so whichever one doesn't go to Sacramento is likely to go to Detroit. Detroit is unlikely to take McCollum, since neither he nor Knight is a true PG, and neither one is suited to matchup defensively with bigger guards. Detroit needs perimeter scoring and would take Shabazz or likely take MCW and move Knight off the ball.

That takes us to Minnesota's pick at #9.... Burke may still be on the board--it's at least 50-50 (with one other player aforementioned possibly still being available) depending on what NOLA and Sacto do. McCollum, Zeller and Adams should be there too. Minnesota apparently wants a shooting guard with size, which points to Caldwell-Pope if they stay in the draft. However, Minny is under pressure to make the playoffs and might consider trading out of the draft. Either way, the #9 pick might be available for trade, and both Trey Burke and CJ McCollum are likely to be available.

Portland at #10 might also be willing to trade if they're not sold on Zeller, Adams or Olynyk. But they'd also consider a wing shooter like KCP. Portland, of course, already has ROY Damian Lillard.

Going further, Philadelphia at #11 needs a big to replace Bynum and play next to Thadeus Young.

Oklahoma City needs a replacement for Kendrick Perkins and possibly a replacement for Kevin Martin more than they need a PG.

Dallas is looking to be a player in free agency, and if they don't get Howard or Paul, they're still going to go after others like Iguodala, so they're still looking to move payroll.

Anyway, both McCollum or Burke might be in reach to the Jazz or another team that trades for the #9 or #10 pick. It's still likely that Dallas will move their pick at #13, so whoever takes it would be a threat to take a player we want.

That said, we could have a situation where 4 PGs--Burke, McCollum, Larkin and Schroeder are piling up in the late lottery and teens simply because there aren't many teams that need a PG that badly. One of those 4 players might even slip all the way to 21.

ESPN appears to agree with you Catch. They have the stock of Burke, MCW and McCollum all dropping. They are now listed at 7-9 in the same order. Then add the rising stock of Larkin and Schroeder and the Jazz could have 4-5 options for a PG at 14 instead of 1-2.

I still don't see any of Burke, MCW, or McCollum being there at 14.. even if they are 'dropping.' Stranger things have happened though.

His intensity certainly has a feel of dickitude about it. I've been around him a lot, for many years, though.. and I can tell you he's just a no nonsense guy and doesn't waste time or words. I have a great deal of respect for his work ethic, focus, and determination.. for those that have never had the same feelings (themselves) in their lives, he just comes off a dick.
 
Burke won't drop past 10 guys, come on. It would be a miracle if he is there @ 9. Guaranteed KOL would try absolutely everything to trade up and get him.

I don't see him sliding even to #9. I would love it, of course, because we could make a play for 9, or would likely see CJ or MCW there at 14... though none of that is happening. So...
 
Nothing to do with draftees, except that 2 or 3 of them will get a chance to wear one of these in 15 days. NBA just released the hat design for the 2013 draft.

Nice write up Catch, I agree the Jazz most likely have choices to make regarding which PG they take at 14. I see the possibility that PGs fall because most teams have their starting PGs. I flip-flop between CJ, MCM and Burke. I would be ok with Schroeder or Larkin at 21. I am not ok with Schroeder or Larkin at 14. I rather go big or get a shooter.
 
Ugly hats. They must have had a contest where you had 15 mins. to come up with a design and then spent 14 1/2 on the snap back. Great idea to put the note on the underside, where so many will actually see it. Wouldn't wear one of those hats if it were given to me free of charge.
 
I'm liking Karasev. Great shooter, high bball IQ, can play SG or SF. At 14 he's a good pick. I'd take him over Burke. Sorry, to me he's at best Jameer Nelson. True, we need a PG but I'm all for tanking this year and getting that next year rather than spending that pick on and avg to below avg PG.

Schroerder stock is declining according to DX. Larkin is the one on the rise
