What's new

Oui Oui Gobert!

At worst, Jazz sign a 3rd big and Gobert takes over Kanter's old role (5-10 spot mins and several DNP's). I'd be happy even going minimalist with Jeremy and Gobert splitting the 30+ mins behind Favors and Kanter. Why not? We want a young bench to play us out of leads. especially in the first part of the season.

I love that the Jazz were willing to spend cash on a pick. I don't recall them ever doing that before.

Jazz line up could be:

Burke
Hayward, burks
Demarre, marv
Favors, tomic, Evans
Kanter, gobert.

What a fun lineup to watch. Crazy!! So excited for the future.

I hope he is not a Hasheem Thabeet.

The quote from Locke is that he WANTS to be an NBA player, WANTS to be in the USA (this was noted also in the Draft Express notes on him.) In the same discussion, Locked noted that John Calipari said that Hasheem Thabeet doesn't like to play basketball. This one aspect is why so many big guys (huge guys actually) are so often a bust. They can be players without much heart or care. Then you get to NBA, and you are not so special anymore just being 7ft tall. I'm crossing my fingers that the psych report on Gobert is accurate and he is legitimately interested in the game.

Jazz roster:

Burke - trade for Kabongo or Walters - Burks - Tinsley
Hayward - Burks - Murphy
Webster - Carroll - Williams
Kanter - Evans - FA
Favors - Gobert

Tank this season and get a starting caliber SF in next years draft! Play Burks big minutes off the bench.

46 and cash
Is there a link to the trade. Watching the draft and haven't heard anything about it. If true go jazz.

Who is Walters? Is he anything like Wolters? He's good.

According to Locke a scout thinks Gobert has a chance to be a top-10 leader in blocks...... in the history of the NBA.

At this price I like the pick. I have grave concerns about him ever being any good. But worth the chance.

Sometimes I really think that Locke understands very little about the actual game of basketball, and just gets numbers.

All we need to do is make him work with Malone on strength and conditioning, with Stockton on passing, with Hornacek on shooting and we have a future hall of famer.

Saying that I like the pick a lot.
