Is this the year...

that the Jazz finally beat the Lakers in the Playoffs? I think we have the team this year to get it done. The Jazz could very well be the best team in the Western Conference this year. Al Jefferson gives us the things that Boozer just was not capable of. Fesenko looks much improved. And Hayward just had a breakout game. I believe that we finally have the team to do it. Who is with me?

Sad to say I think it all revolves around Fess learning how to guard Gasol with out fouling out.

Let's also not forget that we are still playing without Memo. That is another body to play against the Lakers' bigs. This Jazz team is loaded.

The one good thing I took from tonight is The Jazz finally made Gasol work for his points.

The last couple of years he's looked like a one man lay-up drill in the paint against Utah.

The bad things are Odom is completely in Millsap's head - totally took him out of his game again and we're all kidding ourselves to think Kobe won't get his against Bell like he does against everyone else in the league.

And we were also playing without the Flying Dutchman, Francisco Elson.

I found this interesting piece about Elson. Now we know why he was signed. Get him in the game with Raja and they can take simultaneously take out Kobe and Gasol.

"Elson gained notoriety during Denver's 2004 playoff series with Minnesota through his physical attempts to contain Kevin Garnett. Elson knocked Garnett into the seats behind the basket with a hard foul early in a game and later in the game was hit in the groin by Garnett. Elson caused controversy when he described Garnett as "gay" for the groin shot. Elson later apologized to the gay and lesbian community for his comments."

I'm not sure we can beat the Lakers, but we defend them better with our current team. They used to just run circles around Boozer and Okur.

Putting AK on Odom is the right match up. Putting Millsap or CJ on Artest would be an okay match up for us. Putting Raja on Kobe is probably the best match up there. Plus, Jefferson and Fess don't just get run over by Gasol like Boozer and Okur do.

We need to see what things look like when Bynum is back though. We're still undersized up front.
